It seems that the uploads directory is completely gone though. We tried to create it again but even once it’s there, the files aren’t coming through when uploading through media manager.

Thanks Asechrest. We kept going into the other settings for the cumulus cloud – didn’t realize it was in the widget too. It worked like a charm.

I did the original design but then had someone (who knows more than I do) upgrade the wordpress version and make modifications, etc.

Yes I have a screen shot.

Not sure how to post it here though. Should I upload it and host it on my server or should I email it to you?

Going to the ~/wp-admin location ran everything properly. Although the directions I read (mis-read?) seemed to state to go to the URL home and things should run from there…

I’m sorry I meant to say I entered the blog name *not* the DB name (I guess I’m tired a bit too!)

I’m concerned with the potentially negative windows comments. If windows for wordpress is a legitimate concern, please let me know (truly) and I will ask my provider to switch me to a linux platform. Is this worth the downtime and (any apparent) headache?

Thanks for the quick reply. I counted the number of files in the download directory and our hosted site and, at the root level anyway, the number of files is the same.

~/install.php is not in the root folder, but in the wp-admin/ folder. From the downloaded files (for WordPress), the install.php is not located in the root folder. (should it be? – maybe that’s our problem)

Also, we couldn’t use ‘localhost’ for our install as my provider has MySql in a differnet location. But that shouldn’t make a difference, right? I mean, we get to the initial install page – it just doesn’t continue past that part.

We’re on a win-doze box (provider says it should be fine) – does it make that much of a difference?

Update … we asked if the MySql was an up to date version and it is.
