  • oopz! didn’t realize i couldn’t do bbcode here. thought this was a modded bb/ forum bit?

YEAH! no kidding! here i am, apparently joining the Mambo / WP masses– a yet still nothing– at least nothing here on the topic.

let us consider this: our Complete Angler author’s last post in this thread was on 2005-08-13, so my guess is that he has either

    1. abandoned the Mambo idea once and for all
    2. figured out what he needed and abandoned this thread (doubtful, considering his curteous follow-ups)
    3. does have the template, and a site working somewhere, and we just can’t find it!

look here for his WP site
if y’all find anything there, please post back so i can take a looksee. aw, heck– if you find anything Mambo/WP, please throw ‘er my way.

thanks! and thanks to WP for such a great app!

    rock and roll. thanks much!

i’ve used a BSDi server for many years, but for no advanced purposes. most of my “web master/ server admin” learning, advanced as i got there, took place on a windows server. i’ve only recently started administering a Linux server, so i’m still getting used to the differences. much of this is not completely unfamiliar to me, but in terms of “okay, now, what do i do with this?…”, i’m still getting the hang of everything. fortunately, i was already knowledgeable of Change Mode and all that jazz. ??

    thanks again!

to clarify, in case it’s still a mystery…
THE ADMINISTRATION AREA FOR EDITING THE .htaccess FILE IS LOCATED HERE:
    https://your-domain-name/wordpressfolder/wp-admin/templates.php
also found by Admin>Manage>Files then look on the lower right list there.
i’m sorry, but i couldn’t figure out how to get there, so i’m just guessing that i wasn’t the only one. i knew i had seen it before– that’s what was bugging me! but i couldnt’ remember how to get back there! and although there is a templates.php file, i was looking for a menu named templates.
    ??

okay, i’m WAYY back on page one, about 3 posts down… Doraemon says, “If you go into ‘templates’ under the admin page is there a link to your .htaccess file?”…
TEMPLATES??? i see no tempates. i clicked every tab in the dashboard, and every sub tab, and i don’t see any “templates”. please describe for those of us whose skulls are numb. thank you!

where can i find “An Introduction to the .htaccess file”?

in my “dashboard” admin panel, i get a message when attempting to pull up the .htaccess file that it doesn’t exist. i traced everything back to the extracted achive here on my local machine (what i uploaded during installation), and i don’t see that file.

should the Linux server have put it there? and if yes, then what can i do to get one there manually? should i investigate why it didn’t go there automatically if that’s what’s supposed to happen? should i be worried?
