Thank you for your response. Yes, I couldn’t figure out how this could be happening logically. Sometimes it was just ignoring the redirects completely. We tried changing the urls too but did not make a difference.

In the end I have given up trying to set up the redirects in the htaccess file and have instead created them in our CDN (Cloudflare). They immediately started working as intended and no further problems have occurred.

I’ve finally managed to fix it by clearing out all the cookies and running it again. This time it seems to have worked and synced correctly.

Yes, disabling the cookie blocker fixes the problem and Paypal now works.

If you choose to make a one-off payment on this page it will take you to the form. Once completed, you should see that the PayPal pop-box appears at the bottom but without the payment options.

On further investigation, I have discovered that Google also seemed to have chosen the US site as the canonical version, even for the German site.

We have now updated to version 10 of Yoast and ensured all our other plug-ins are up-to-date. I have also just resubmitted all sitemaps to Google.

I’ll give it a few days and see if it there is any improvement.
