In reply to: [Category Specific RSS feed Subscription] no feed linksClassicPress is essentially the same as WordPress 4.9 from which it was forked
millions of people were/are very disappointed that the WP devs forced the Gutenberg/block editor upon them, thus the birth of ClassicPress
your plugin requires a min. version of WP 3, thus it should work with ClassicPress, however if you don’t wish to support it, i understand

In reply to: [Subscribe to Category] feature: notify on page updatehow does that solve the topic of this thread; feature: notify on page update
the point to my opening this issue was to request a function whereby readers have the option to be notified when a particular page is updated – you indicated here that a you may have to add a new shortcode in order to accomplish that

In reply to: [Subscribe to Category] feature: notify on page updatei know it’s the default editor, and there are millions of people that either hate it (me) or hate the idea that WP shoved it down our throats
i was one of the more than 5 million people (possibly many more) that disabled the thing

In reply to: [Subscribe to Category] default email subject is a random string…and even if you do set the mail subject, it’s still a random string
i think i’m referring to something different than what you’re thinking
what i’m suggesting is to add the user/recipient name in the email that they receive – in order to do that, the WP admin would need a
{name}
variable (i mistakenly called it a shortcode) that could be used in the email templatein addition of course, a ‘name’ form field would have to be added to the front-facing form
the reason for this being so you could open your email with something like…
Hello {name}
which would translate to the users name
thanks for taking care of the shortcode issue Chris ??
any thoughts on this…
4. would like a ‘name’ shortcode that could be used in the email (would have to add the field to the front-end obviously, above/before the email field)

In reply to: [Subscribe to Category] default settings result in CRON warningthanks ??
i don’t know if you want this marked as resolved so i’ll let you handle that
in addition to my last post, my current settings are…
placement: bottom (this should be able to be overridden by shortcode, but it isn’t)
post types: page
visibility: all manualyes, you should be able to, but it doesn’t work that way
see my earlier post
did you test the shortcode with classic editor? try placing it in the middle of some content and see where the form shows up on the published page
