In reply to: Comments held for moderation even if previously approvedThanks so much James. That did the trick. I disabled all of the plugins and it worked, so I reactivated them one at a time and discovered the problem is Jetpack.
I disabled all the Discussion settings and then tried them again. It seems that the only setting I can have enabled is “Let readers use WordPress.com, Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ accounts to comment”
If I have any of the other settings enabled, then all comments are held for moderation and I get no email notifications about comments.
Thanks so much for your help and your patience!

In reply to: Comments held for moderation even if previously approvedHi James. I checked and there are no spaces hidden in the moderation lists.
And yes, I did get the test email.
Is there something else I can try?
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: Comments held for moderation even if previously approvedEvery single comment is being held for moderation. No comments include any links except when the website field is completed, but that would still only be one link.
Also, when someone has a previously approved comment, their future comments should be automatically approved, yet they are not. Every single comment gets held.
I switched over to using the SMTP plugin, yet I’m still not getting any notifications of comments.
And when someone submits a comment, there is no message or anything that says “submitted” or “awaiting moderation” – it just disappears and they’ve got no idea whether it actually posts or not.

In reply to: Comments held for moderation even if previously approvedThank you James. Here are the screenshots (everything wouldn’t fit in one).

I installed an SMTP plugin to get around the email notifications problem. Hopefully that part of the problem is resolved now.

In reply to: Comments held for moderation even if previously approvedHi James – thanks so much for these suggestions and advice.
1. I don’t have anything added to my comment moderation list. I double-checked the settings and couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
2. Thanks for this tip – I’ve asked theme support for their advice.
3. Is this still the case even if my email is just a gmail account? I don’t use my hosting company’s email service (not yet anyway). The email address connected to my WordPress account is just a Gmail address and I get all of the other emails they send to me.I posted a test comment which went through without a problem. I didn’t get any notification about the comment, but maybe that’s because I was commenting as myself, and I’m already approved for comments. Though I don’t know why it’s fine that I’m already approved and no one else.
So frustrating, but I really do appreciate your advice! Thank you!

In reply to: Images disappearing from posts/homepageWow, thank you so much Joey! I really appreciate your advice. I don’t really understand how to change where my images are being served from. I have been looking all over my site and couldn’t figure it out, but I did stumble across a setting on Jetpack which said “Serve images from our server” and I just switched that off and now all of the images are showing up again.
Thank you!!

In reply to: Importing an old backup file into my new WordPress siteThank you very much for the reply. I think I can actually get the text manually for most of the articles. That seems to be the fastest and least complicated way to do it (for a non-tech expert like myself)
Many thanks!
