OK, read through numerous other posts about this issue and after doing everything that everyone else had done it still wasn’t working.

At one point in another thread someone suggested “do it again – it can’t hurt.”.

Well guess what? Disabling all plug-ins, switching to twenty-fourteen theme and then adding plug-ins back, then finally switching back to my own theme AGAIN…and everything is working.

Makes ZERO sense, but whatever. I’m just glad it’s working again.

I’m at the mercy of anyone who can help with this.

I probably should mention that those are the two errors, and I have NO idea what either of them mean. LOL

fyi…this is what we’ve found so far. Seems somehow this redirect is coming from cloudflare, but we cannot yet figure out how, as I have not page rules/redirects setup with them.

I have a ticket in with cloudflare support. If anyone here has any ideas please let me know.

I’m looking and my host is looking. So far we can’t find what’s causing the .dev switching. So weird.

    (@wednesdaysheroes)

making progress. manually installed wordpress again via ftp and seemed to have fixed it.

Seems right now the last problem I have is the .dev vs .com issue.

err…that and all those tables with the wpg5 prefix. I’m starting to think I can/should just remove them all?

    Thoughts?

This just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

I looked at the wp_options table and it was pointing to wednesdaysheroes.dev. I edited that and things came back. My posts, my pages, my media, my products. All of it.

BUT…outside of my dashboard my browser keeps flipping .com to .dev and I cannot access anything. Also, both the twenty-fifteen and twenty-sixteen themes still seem broken.

Looking at the db tables…it looks as though all the tables with the wpg5 prefix are duplicates of tables with the normal wp_ prefix.

I have NO idea how all of this became such a mess. Things were working just fine a week ago.

paused cloudflare and now when I try to go to wednesdaysheroes.com it switches to wednesdaysheroes.dev and gives me an error message.

(I also changed the prefix to wp_ instead of wpg5_, but switched it back to check if that was causing the issue…it wasn’t) – that leave the cloudflare change as the culprit.

Any ideas where it’s pulling that incorrect url from?

    Thread Starter wednesdaysheroes

    (@wednesdaysheroes)

    Paused cloudflare.

I just installed and activated twenty-fifteen. How can I select and activate a theme if it’s not installed?

prefix is set to “wpg5” I see numerous tables with that prefix (mostly woocommerce tables), but the vast marjority are indeed “wp”. Is it possible to have two different prefixes? That doesn’t make sense to me.

    (@wednesdaysheroes)

Just installed and activated the twenty-fifteen theme and same “broken image” icon appears for both themes. Seems like the issue isn’t specific to any particular theme, but wordpress as a whole.

Not sure where it’s pulling my favicon from, but strangely that’s working (teeny icon on browser tab).

When I re-installed wp, yes, I created a new db, but that’s not the database that I’m using. I deleted that new/empty db. The restored/old db “wednesda_whdb” is what’s there now (145MB~) and that’s what’s being called in my wp-config.php file.

I literally just re-installed 4.6.1, should that not have reinstalled the twenty-sixteen theme?

    Thread Starter wednesdaysheroes

    (@wednesdaysheroes)

not sure if this is a helpful clue, but when I’m looking at “appearance/themes” the twenty-sixteen theme is the only installed/active theme, but the big preview image just shows the “broken image” icon.

I do see the posts in the database.

    “technical difficulties” removed.
