In reply to: Are there issues with WP Post-Embeds in 4.9?Thanks, Steve. We’ve tried that, disabling non-crucial plugins (leaving things like WooCommerce). I had a JSON diabling plugin running, removed that and others, and we got one of the post-embeds to work, but not all.
Wondering if it’s a site performance issue? If post-embeds are resource demanding??

In reply to: My whole site is goneIf you can, undo whatever you did which triggered the error.
If that doesn’t work, to quickly test if it’s the plugins, temporarily rename the plugins directory via FTP or your hosting company’s cPanel file manager.
In any case, this seems like a good time to contact your hosting company’s tech support, if you can, and see if they can help diagnose the issue.

In reply to: Should a plugin load 1×1 images that go to black pages? To answer your question, no, they absolutely should not be doing this.
I assume they are ads, being resized so as to not be noticeable. It sounds like a scam.
Steve, is this plugin included in the WordPress plugin directory? If so, should it be removed?

In reply to: WORDPRESS WEBSITE UNABLE TO LOGIN/DISAPPEAREDTry changing the domain name back to what it was originally, when it was working.
Then, make certain that the DNS changes you make are correct before trying again.

In reply to: Why is my site suddenly HTTPS – ???Thanks very much, James.
I’m certain I didn’t set it up, but have wondered if hosts would just set that up (to please Google, impress customers) via letsencrypt.org or other free SSL certificate organizations.
Thanks again!

In reply to: Why is my site suddenly HTTPS – ???Are hosts switching accounts over to HTTPS on their own, without telling customers?
I have seen Google will be increasingly warning Chrome users away if a site is not https, so that’s great, but I’ve asked my hosting company’s tech support about it repeatedly and their response may be characterized as, “Huh?”

In reply to: Two questions on Username and Password safety? Thanks, Steve. Will do just that.
Any ideas on password maximum length?

In reply to: Two questions on Username and Password safety? We’ve been using complex passwords/phrases, but have had entries despite that. Since our browsers save our passwords anyway, hyper-complexity is not a concern for us.
Is there a way to change the default username? For example, can I add a new administrator user, and delete the original one(s)? It is clear that having the username “admin” is an extreme liability.
Thanks, here’s a simple example: We have several feeds displayed on the homepage of this site, using the Feedzy widget: https://thestarwarsdaily.com/
And, for instance, I have the Pinterest plugin loaded on my browser. If I go to this page (different domain, same website) — https://starwarswisdom.com/ — I can right-click on the image of the book cover, and select to “Save” it on Pinterest or to Pocket.
However, when I right-click on a Feedzy-supplied image on the home page, the option to save to Pinterest is no longer available.
Similarly, we have the “pinterest pin it button on image hover” plugin loaded, which is working on the book cover, but not on the Feedzy-delivered images.

In reply to: Can I reuse old post numbers, like: …com/?p=3058Thanks very much, Steve. I think we’ll set up some specific redirects for those posts, if we can, and hope Google isn’t offended or whatever.

In reply to: [Increase Maximum Upload File Size] HTTP Error while uploading videoMy suggestion: Avoid unusual punctuation in your image’s titles.
Apostrophe’s, in particular, can stop an image from uploading. Rename such files and generally try to keep image names simple.
