I think the reason is some of the timeouts on your setup. Like PHP max_execution_time or http_request_timeout (which is 5 seconds by default)
The latest version of the plugin has 5000 seconds timeout. But if it’s overridden by some of your server settings – it might time out.
Another way to check if there is no mistake with your secret and key is just pasting into your browser:
https://waf.sucuri.net/api?k=YOUR_KEY&s=YOUR_SECRET&a=clearcache
and see the response. If it takes much more time than thumb down to appear – most likely it’s a timeout issue. If secret or key is wrong you’ll get the message in your browser.
