I figure it’s time for an update on my progress with the Diamond Multisite Widget.” It pretty much does everything I need it to EXCEPT for displaying the Featured Image. I’m very disappointed…wish I new how to modify this…anyway, just wanted to follow up.

So far, I’m still looking on how to get the Featured Image to show up. Other than that, it’s perfect for what I need.

@angelzaou – in the very first post of this thread I mentioned that I’m wanting to display the first 6 posts (including a description, first photo, and date) of each subsite within my multisite. Having all post combined into one feed wouldn’t work and the RSS feed has restrictions on what you can display.

So far the “Diamond MultiSite Widgets” is the best widget I’ve found. I think it only pulls the heading and date only at this point…I’m going to try to modify it and see if I can get a description to show and image of first post.

Thanks for the info! I can’t believe there isn’t a pluggin for this, I would think it would be something everyone would want.

I really don’t want to do too much modifying with the plugins, but I may mess around and see what I can come up with.

@ipstenu – I installed the SiteWide Tags and enabled them. The only problem is that the “featured posts” plugin doesn’t seem to work with the most recent version of WordPress.

@andrea_r – Yes, that is exactly what I’m trying to do except I would also like to show an image to the most recent post. What plugin(s) would I need to use in order to do something similar as in your example?

Thanks Ipstenu, I’ll give this a try and see what happens…

I’ll post later to give an update.

I could kick myself…I had blogs.dir as a file name instead of an actual name for a directory.

Everything works great. Photos/media upload like a charm.

    Thanks for all the help!

I don’t see the 3/files/2011/06 directory in wp-content. I tried adding this myself and set the permissions to it, but it still didn’t work. I would think adding this in manually isn’t a very streamlined process and would be a pain adding the new directory every month and setting permissions to it.

There is a user associated with wp-content and a group. I checked blogs.dir and a user and group was not assigned. I tried adding the user and group to the blogs.dir but received the following message:

The operation couldn’t be completed. Could not change the owner of blogs.dir

    Error 5: unrecognized error number

I’m not sure if I’m running SELinux or not. I may need to find this out from my host provider.

@ipstenu – I’ve tried setting my permissions to 777 as well, and tried it again and I’m still unable to upload photos for the multisites.

…thanks for the advice. I’ll probably make my own topic.

I’m having the same problem with not being able to upload any media to my multisites.

blogs.dir and all the other directories are writable. I’ve set everything to 755.

I don’t understand what’s going on. I have spent countless hours on forms and the information out there isn’t helpful.

Should I just contact my host provider or is this something I can fix on my own?

    Thanks in advanced.
