I never did get the DOP extension to work. I ended up switching to another slideshow gallery plugin that satisfied the client’s needs.

I have discovered that my issue involves a plugin extension “Thumbnail Gallery (WP NextGen Gallery Template)” When I removed that from the shortcode a simple image-list gallery stays after refresh. Still interesting that clearing the image cache fixed it temporarily. I think I’ll also post in the extensions help forum.

Also, the link above won’t show the problem now, since I’ve disabled the DOP extension.

Thanks guys! I figured out the way to create a new static page based on the “example page”, but it inherits the problem that no sidebars are showing up in the example page. My client likes the Example Front page, but wants me to add a sidebar.
