Update: I found a post with a similar issue, but none of the fixes suggested there worked.

Ok, it works now. It was conflicting with SiteOrigin Page builder. I deactivated that plugin and it works perfectly.

Also the top slider made my images distorted. It doesn’t use the full width and height.
The original images are 1920×1280.

Now, how do I get rid of the second slider? I only want 1 slider on the home page. I don’t want to show the blog below the home page content.

I’m not sure I understand this. I went under the category post, then add new and I’m in the editor. Is this what you mean?

Am I adding an image in the editor or the set featured image?

I did this, and it still doesn’t give me the option to edit the slider images and the text box inside the image.

Looks like the best way would be to add some java script that adds a class to all top level list items that have children, but since I’m not as savvy with Java script, i’m not sure how to add it. Theres a great example here:
