Disregard. I have everything working now. I also just read that it takes at least 24 hours to update the whois. Thank you so much for your help.

Thank you. I was able to get a hold of the other designer. I re-paid the transfer fee and it said my transfer request went through successfully. Now the name servers 1-3 all point to Dreamhost.

Now that I have that done. How do I go about taking down the current design so I can start from scratch with a WordPress theme I purchased?

Like I said before, I don’t intend on keeping anything from the current design. I have all the logos, images, content, etc. and I don’t mind keeping the site down for a whole day while I do my business.

One more thing, when I went back to “whois”, it still says the old information. (siteground.com, etc.)

Also, as I was looking through the WHOIS, I noticed that it still says the previous designer is still the administrator. I paid Dreamhost to transfer over the information and used the eps code that the other guy provided me with. When I did that, Dreamhost says that it’s being fully hosted here and that I’m the administrator. This is really confusing. I really don’t want to talk to the other guy again.

Alright. I tried to do research on some of the things you said to do. I’m still confused. I downloaded the all the files from the old site through FTP software (Cyber Duck). Not sure if that’s important because I really don’t care about what is on the website right now. I want to totally redo the site even if it includes a day of downtime.

All I care about is using Dreamhost as the hosting site and using that domain name. I am going to use a WordPress theme and site content that I already have to build the site.

    When I go to Manage Domains> anthony-smithlaw.com> Edit>
It says that it’s active and fully hosted.

Do I still need to do what you said to do above?

I really appreciate your help and patience. ??

I have the FTP login information now whenever you need it.

It’s anthony-smithlaw.com I’m not at the office until tomorrow, so I won’t have the FTP password until then because we keep all files and information on a server there. I just wanted to brush up on it so I can get started in the morning.

I think the previous designer was hosting it locally or something. I wanted him to transfer the whole site and domain to my Dreamhost account.

Before he transferred it, I had already set up the domain on my list including the one-click WordPress install. So when he transferred the site over, I would have it there. Now I have full access to the site through Dreamhost and I’m able to view all FTP files via Cyberduck.

So yes, it was hosted somewhere else, not I have control of it through Dreamhost.

I’m unsure if this answers your question.
