Update: I now can log in by renaming the plugins folder and deleting db.php and object-cache.php. When I log out again and change it back I have the same problem again (obvious though).

Can I live without those php files or will the system generate new ones? I also deleted the W3-Total-Cache folder.

    Hello AJ,

Thanks for your help. I’ve seen that article and tried most solutions except MySQL/FTP/WP CLI and can say now that the password doesn’t seem to be the problem. I can change it. But the one problem still remains. “Whenever I try to log in, the page now simply refreshes.”

What could be causing this and how to work around it?

    Regards,
    Philipp

I wasn’t talking to anyone in particular and didn’t know this was a plugin page. I thought it was a general problem that existed where passwords cannot be restored since most threads I found were from 08/09. But it’s a huge joke nevertheless. xD

I’m getting nowhere and really frustrated with this issue. 3 hours of trial and error with no visible results. I can’t send a new password because “Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.” Yea, you better be fucking sorry for wasting my time with such a simple problem.
If I enter the correct password the page just refreshes. I did install 1-2 plugins yesterday. I don’t know if they are causing the problem but I also can’t login to an FTP account and check the files. Help would be appreciated. E-mail [email protected]
