If I want to have only one effect (ie stampede) in the slider, what would that section of the camera.js file look like?

would it just be
fx : ‘stampede’ ?

Also, to change the slide caption as mentioned above, where do I create the custom field?

Wait, I think I got it. I had to set a “featured image” on the page for that image to appear on the homepage.

OK let me clarify. I see the part about Featured post/pages. But when I edit a page, in the upper right all I see is options about featured posts, nothing about a featured page, so it threw me off.

But I did put checkmarks in both Custom Post features, “feature post in front page slider” and “feature post in featured posts section” but all I have on the homepage is the name of the page, and the text from the page. The picture that is on that page is not appearing. I am trying to get it to look like the front page as it is shown here where there are 3 columns with a picture in each. I am using a static front page.

I am not understanding. Are you saying the 3 columns shown here are featured posts or pages? They don’t seem like they would be posts, so I assume they are pages then?

But I don’t see anything in the text file about how to do that.

UNIVERSITY THEME

CONFIGURING THE FRONT PAGE SLIDER
When you edit a post or page, in the top of the right column you will see a box that enables to feature a post in the slider. The featured image of that post will be the slide image. One post or page is one slide. The slider images will be automatically resized but suggested size is 950x460px.

By default each slide will link to the page/post you have included in the slider and the page/post title will be the slide caption.
To have the slide link elsewhere, create a custom field named ‘slidelink’ and in the value area enter the link.
To have a different caption, create a custom field named ‘slidecaption’ and in the value area enter the new caption.

FEATURED POSTS/PAGES IN THE FRONT PAGE
Below the slider there is a section where you can feature posts or pages. When you edit a post or page, in the top of the right column you will see a box that enables you to feature post in featured posts section. You can manage the text via the excerpt field.

FEATURED IMAGES SIZES
Slider images – 960x450px
Featured Posts Images – 300x160px
Blog post featured images – 650x300px

UPLOAD A LOGO IMAGE
You can upload your own logo image by going to ‘Appearance-Customize-Theme Options’.

SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS
Go to ‘Appearance-Customize-Social Media Icons’ and add the url of the social media account you want to activate.

WIDGET LOCATIONS
This theme has one widget location. The Right Sidebar.
