Taxonomies not showing so I can’t pick to add to a taxonomy

Hey @montey11 sounds like you’d prefer the checkbox version, so you’d want to change your taxonomy settings for this taxonomy, and set “hierarchical” to true. As is, you should be able to start typing and as it finds similar ones, it’d suggest them. However, that doesn’t facilitate a visible list of ones already created like you’re wanting.

Thanks for the quick response.

I want it like how it is on this video Video. I think he is using the same method. You see it has the pick msot popular link/button and also the typing and finds similar feature.

I did what you said and set “hierarchical” to true and now there is a “add new type” button/link which brings up the search/type field but when I enter a type it isn’t bringing up current types to pick. Image link below for what I have.

Is this because the field is only letting me add types here and not actually picking current ones?

Is it possible that you just don’t have any other terms created yet in this “Types” taxonomy? Or is it possible that what you presently have set for “Types” is actually something like post meta instead of taxonomy terms? If you’re doing something compared to Advanced Custom Fields, then that could be the case since ACF saves majority of its content to post meta.

I’ve followed the exact method in the youtube video.

I’ve created a post types called Machines with CPT UI.

I then created a taxonomy called Types and attached to Machines post type.

I’m using ACF to popular the Machines/post types. When adding a post type item and I create a taxonomy it does create it and add the post type item to it but then If I go to create a new post type I can’t add to one of the already made taxonomy. It doesn’t search/bring up existing to pick/add to when I type. This is the issue.

Ah fixed it.

Show in REST API was set to TRUE. I’ve now set to false and it has changed to the old style wordpress and showing taxonomies as tick boxes.

Hmm, odd that the Show in REST field would be affecting anything but I’m happy to see you got this resolved in the end ??
