In reply to: how do i change a posts permalink?I’m having a similar problem to the original poster here, and whooami, no I can NOT change the slug. I just upgraded from 2.7.x to 2.9.2 – previously when I hit the permalink edit button I was able to change the slug part of the link, but now I can’t.
My permalinks are set to:
/%postname%-%author%-%post_id%/
The part of the URL that can be changed (the “postname” part) is highlighted in the Edit Post page, but hitting the Edit buttons does nothing at all. I can’t edit that part of the URL and I MUST be able to do that.
What is the problem? The edit button is there and the section that I should be able to change is highlighted, yet I cannot edit it.
This is a very big deal on my site, I need HELP.
Thanks,
Vic
UPDATE:
I found the solution. You have to go into “Screen Options” at the top of the page and check “Post Slug.” The post slug is now edited on a different part of the page. Once that’s visible, when you click on edit permalink it takes you to that field.

In reply to: [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Fatal error: Allowed memory size exhaustedDisk caching with supercache also caused the load to spike for some reason. Bizarre.
So I can’t do disk caching, and when I do APC I get memory errors.
Awesome.

In reply to: [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Fatal error: Allowed memory size exhaustedWell I tried switching from APC to disk caching on W3 and my mysqld use went to 400% CPU and my cpu load spiked up to 7-8 and stayed there.
I’m going to try uninstalling total cache and going back to supercache to see what that does.

In reply to: [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Fatal error: Allowed memory size exhaustedThe memory limit in php.ini is set to 384MB and the limit in wp-config.php WAS set to 128MB, but I’ve removed the memory limit in the wordpress config file.
Certainly even 128MB should be beyond sufficient?

In reply to: Can NOT get hi-res to work with VideopressOK, so I’ve been told that the width to height ratio can affect display resolution. So at the page above I uploaded a version at 1280 x 720 (167MB file) and I STILL get a low res version!!!

In reply to: [Plugin: VideoPress] Videopress plugin: Can’t get to WordPress.com accountI have a dedicated server. Even after the SSL cert I still had problems, when I tried to log in with my primary WP.com account in the popup window from my blog admin area, it would loop me to the login for my site.
My solution was to create a separate WP.com account, give THAT account permission to access the blog that hosts the videos, and then I was able to successfully log in and use the plugin from WordPress. I still don’t know why my main WP.com login (which was used to purchase Videopress and owns the WP.com blog that hosts it) didn’t work.
Trying creating a new WP.com account without a blog, give that access to Videopress and see if that works.

In reply to: [Plugin: VideoPress] Videopress plugin: Can’t get to WordPress.com accountOK, it seems that in order to use this plugin you have to have a SSL cert for your site!
However NOW I get this error:
“Cannot load video-plugin.”
