I checked deeper in the WP forums and it seems an issue with WP4.9 and not any particular theme. No need to research on Lovecraft’s side apparently.

I’d still appreciate if you can answer my side question above: if I’d activate some other theme temporarily, would I still keep all my settings (menus, etc) that I defined for Lovecraft? Would everything be back as normal when I re-activate Lovecraft?

Voilá, it works! So far it’s also chosen the right language every time. It looks like a solid solution, thanks a lot!

Just to report that I have now spotted cases of Related Posts that don’t match the language of the related-to post. I guess this is after the commented-out line. No show-stopper but I’ll surely welcome a fix.

Commenting that line out made the Related Posts show up again! So far for all the posts I’ve tried, the Related Posts match the language of the holding post too.

I’ll keep an eye on the issue anyway. Thanks a lot for all the help.

I installed the plugin offered by the Polylang author, then tried the suggested reindex of the related posts, clicked on the Debug option in Jetpack and got the following message:

“It looks like your site can not communicate properly with Jetpack.”

My site connection with Jetpack is apparently fine, everything (except the Related Posts, obviously) works fine. I tried a disconnect/reconnect cycle that was successful but clicking Debug had the same result.

I didn’t see any “Reindex” option. I performed a full sync from my wordpress.com account, just in case.

After all that, the problem stays the same, I get no Related Posts.

Any ideas?

Hi, thanks for the feedback. It seems clear there’s a conflict between the two. The referred thread does not even appear as resolved, I wouldn’t expect much but I’ll try the suggested solution and see what happens.

I was advised to not deactivate Polylang, even if just in case. I don’t have a test environment either, any other idea of anything we could try?

let me ask around then before trying. Polylang holds associations between equivalent content (posts, categories, media) in the different languages, losing that would be catastrophic. In the meantime, if you have any other idea, do let me know.

I’ve been dealing with the plugin developers through email and I now consider the issues I asked about as closed. I’m not aware whether the developers needed to update anything or not. I can report about what was on my side:

If I access the page/post containing the grid while I’m logged in as administrator in my WP installation, the grid is not shown. This is still the case. It turned into just a minor inconvenience once I realized.

I was missing the “Generate Layout” step after some of my changes.

Grid Plus didn’t like a “&” character in the name of the grid. I took that character out of the name.

Grid Plus is having an issue with my nested Categories but I realized WordPress does too so I understand it’s not a problem with the plugin itself.

My thanks to the support stuff for the great commitment and help.

I’ve finally found a setting that works! If I use Pagination Type “Page Numbers” and Items per page 8 or less, it works! But If I set the Items per page to more than 8 or if I set the Pagination Type to Show All, it doesn’t work well: items missing, wrong order. Hope it helps!

I contacted you through the form. I’ve actually made a bit of progress because I’ve found one problem with the grid in this page:

It didn’t work because the grid had a “&” character in the name (“Gear & Skills”). I’ve changed it for “and” (it’s now “Gear and Skills”) and there’s no error message.

Now the problem is the same as with the other grid I’ve tried: only 8 items shown (it should be 11), not correctly ordered.

I can confirm the number of posts is 18. I have tried assigning a featured image to one of them but I still get an empty frame. I’ve played with different configurations of grid columns and items per page with no different result.

If you think it’d be useful, I could give you access to the site.

First issue (empty frame) can’t be about lack of enough posts, the selected criteria includes 18 entries. I’ve tried your suggested setting with Page Numbers and 8 Items per Page and I still get an empty frame with a page selector. Oddly enough the selector shows 5 pages when I’d expect only 3 (8 + 8 + 2 items). You can see this setting’s result in the relevant page (https://viajarapie.info/tecnica-y-material/)

As for the second issue, trying your suggestion had no effect. I re-saved the grid, then added it in the page content from the drop-down list. It still shows a “Cannot find grid information” message (https://viajarapie.info/en/gear-skills/)

By “thumbnail image” do you mean a featured image? None of the selected posts will have a featured image as my theme does a rather awkward job of featured images, I’d expect the listing plugin to use the first image in the post instead, will Grid Plus do that?
