Thank you for the rapid reply suggesting that the “Hide Widget Title” widget would resolve the problem.

It did not work, but the “Remove Widget Title” widget worked great.

First, hope the Cancer thing is subsiding. Have several friends who have managed to successfully cope with the situation for many years, and one who totally beat the deal.

Second, can well appreciate your anxiety due to lack of income from your efforts. For what it’s worth, for 40 years I paid the rent via selling HVAC installations. On a good year, I closed 10% of the projects I quoted… that’s the way it was, but the effort I donated in years 1 thru 10 paid off in latter years in the form of expanded opportunities.

Last, my present activity is focused on creating income from online activity. Without your contributions and those of others, this would not be possible. The ebook features more than 20 plugins one of which is your sitemap plugin. Yours was selected after others failed to function. It seems like industry “progress” results in limited usefulness to most plugins. I believe in share the wealth, and if there is wealth to share, you will be remembered.

Thanks for a great plugin, and will hope that your situation improves.

It’s my understanding that WP generates a virtual robots text file if you have prevented indexing during site construction.

When you finally tie the site into Webmaster Tools, this virtual robots file prevents indexing until you rework the robots.txt file.

Did so on our site, and indexing on 40 pages began immediately but did not finish for about two weeks.

Ran a couple of tests at https://www.webpagetest.org with different browsers and different test locations. Time was from 3 to 10 seconds on first run and reduced to between 1 and 2 seconds on second run. WPT shows 95% of bytes in images, so may take a look at image optimization.

I would be happy with things they way they are.

It’s easy to check site speed with Google Page Speed On Line or at webpagetest.org.

Test with plugins disabled and enabled and you’ll find out quickly.

A new WP download usually carries some in place sidebar widgets that you may not want and may be removed as esmi says.

Sometimes these widgets “stick” and their content shows even though the widget has been removed. A cure for this is to place an empty text widget in the position and the meta widget content goes away.

We’ve been experimenting with headers per Section 16.6.0. A different header on each page is what we’re looking for. There was some space that required adjusting though.

We tried the “#” thing as we mentioned in section 8.2.2, but it messed up our XML sitemap…. If you’ve got any other thoughts, we’re interested.
