In reply to: Slow Website TutorialChecked you out at https://www.webpagetest.org ..For a Wellington NZ location using IE9, they report initial load at 18.2 seconds… For LA, initial load time was 11.8 secs.
From either location, WPT report gives you an A on image compression, but you flunked “First Byte” time (whatever that means) and Static Content caching, but have not had enough experience with either to be of any help.
WPTest nay give you a starting point…Cool site by the way.

In reply to: htaccess questionsNo, speed is under control.
Biggest gap I’ve got is to get the entire site indexed, but will take that up on a G forum.
Thanks again.

In reply to: Database exceeds the 1 GB limit.Do you have any backup files on your computer?
If not, and the Go Daddy techs can’t perform a restoration of the original data base, I’m out of ideas.

In reply to: Database exceeds the 1 GB limit.Took a quick look at the site and got lots of “Not Found” pages.
Last week we had a database with GoDaddy that came up with a bunch of MySQL errors that prevented reading spread sheets we had posted…GoDaddy wanted $150 to back it up to an earlier date so we resolved the problem by recreating the entire site from backup files we had at a cost of 4 hours.
Every time I’ve tried the PHPMyAdmin route, have only made things worse…
If you’re an SQL pro, this may not be a problem.Sorry can’t be of more help.

In reply to: Database exceeds the 1 GB limit. We use a couple of plugins to make things simple.
1. Plugins Garbage Collector, o.9.9 by Vladimir Garagulya checks on leftover tables caused by addition and removal of plugins over a period of time.
2. WP-Optimize by Ruhani Rabin removes post revisions and spam.
Would be curious to learn if these help.

We have used the Back up & Move plugin by Gaurav Aggarwal. If you decide to use it, be sure to also obtain the “restore” file he references.

In reply to: Unstable EditingThanks esmi,
but don’t think its plugins.
It performs this way with fresh download with only Advanced TinyMCE plugin installed.
Maybe I’m not using the editor properly, or could it be host connection?

Just “discovered” your tabs for list management.
My apologies for the question. Is being old an excuse?
Thanks again for an outstanding plugin.

In reply to: Show different slideshows on different pagesI see. The lack of unique headers on each page is probably my biggest source of frustration with WP. There is a plugin called “Dynamic Headers” that provides this capability for some themes, but could not get it to work. You may have better luck. (I’m allergic to code, so do things different than the code proficient).
If it were possible for you to use two or more different themes and place unique slide shows in the header of each, you could then use a plugin called Headspace2 to switch themes on a per page basis. HS2 is basically an SEO plugin so I sometimes use it for both purposes.
Don’t know how much control you have over the header on you theme but if it could be eliminated, (or maybe just minimized to contain the title), there’s a plugin called “Custom Widget Area” which provides a widgetized header area. Then place a text widget (I use Black Studio) into the header area for each slideshow, and use the Display Widgets plugin to tell on what page each will show.
I couldn’t find a header-less theme, so I use theme generating software for that part. Not sure the moderator would allow me to mention the vendor.
Hope I didn’t waste your time, but I’ve been in the same position, and it took weeks to figure this out. Good Luck!
