I am still stuck trying to create the child theme. I have followed all of the instructions on the wordpress codex for creating a child theme but am getting this error message:
This theme is broken. The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Virtue” parent theme.
Obviously I have the Virtue theme installed so I don’t know where to go from here. Any suggestions?

I am using the Virtue theme. I honestly don’t know the difference between the templates you described. I am very new to WordPress and just googled how to put my posts on a page other than my homepage and created the category page from there. I don’t even remember how I did it. How do I find out which of those I did?
