In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Alas, took the site downHi Jeremy,
I had the same problem. Contacted my host (JaguarPC) and they said everything looked fine on their end. The strange thing is that I’ve been using Jetpack for some time without issue until just recently. Then the Jetpack stats on my dashboard read: “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate such and such bytes)” and then referenced a line on the functions.php in the wp-includes directory. I would get the same error when I attempted to access most features, like “Updates” or “Plugins”. I didn’t have the time to deal with the problem so I left the site alone for a few days. When I returned, Jetpack appeared to be working again. But when I updated to WordPress 4.1, the Jetpack stats reverted to the same error and the backend functions ceased to work. When I delete Jetpack via FTP, then all of the functions of the WP backend work again. When I try installing Jetpack again, I get the same error. My site is https://www.workingauthor.com.
I’m keeping the plugin uninstalled for now.
To add another wrinkle to this issue, I have other domains running WP on the same VPS hosting plan. These sites are running Jetpack without issue.
A solution would be wonderful.

In reply to: [Plugin: Twitter for WordPress] Plugin not pulling in TweetsYeah, I’m having the same problem. It works until I have to modify the sidebar.php file. Then the plugin fails to call my Tweets. Weird.

In reply to: Adding The Loop Above the Header Makes Every Post the SameWell, I’m not sure if I’m doing anything wrong. I just moved the code out of the header and onto the index.php file and everything works fine. So I’m assuming you can’t query_posts in a header that’s being called with the get_header function?

In reply to: Error with top navigation tabsLindsay,
If you don’t have mod_rewrite access then you MUST use the default permalink structure “?p=152” or whatever the page/post number is. That means changing the links for your tabs. So your Contact link will no longer be “https://www.lindsayvanherk.nl/top-navigation/contact/”. It will be “https://www.lindsayvanherk.nl/?page-id=5” or whatever the number is.
It’s not elegant, but your host probably has a Windows server instead of Unix.
Let me know if that works for you.

In reply to: www.workingauthor.comThanks for the comments. I’m still honing my Web design skills so I’ll try to make things flow a little better. Between my day job in marketing and my night job as an entertainment journalist, I don’t have too much time to devote to my site. ??
I’m hoping to free up some time soon.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
