Update: I reinstalled the theme and that seemed to clear it up.

In addition – I also changed themes and deactivated all plugins. No change.

I installed, then got this immediately after activation:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/vegaswi5/public_html/wp-content/themes/wp-clear/index.php on line 3

I deactivated and uninstalled. I rebuilt the .htaccess file. Nothin’. I still have full access to my admin area, but the site itself cannot be seen.

Check your footer. There’s an error message down there that I’ll just bet is related to a database call.

I use Autofocus on my secondary site. I like the look of the “free” theme better than the paid one. I haven’t done any customization of it at all *yet.* I need to take time to do so, but meanwhile, it looks okay! As you will be able to see, there are still a few glitches that I need to work on.

I’d also like some feedback. Thanks.

I’m going to throw my 2cents’ worth in the mix as well. I’m developing a catalog of training classes, and many of them are on a recurring basis, sometimes monthly. Thanks to whoever suggested the Duplicate Post plugin, but I’d rather not junk up everything with a gazillion dupes of the same thing. But it works!

It was a plugin. Sheesh. You’d think I would have figured that out by now. I used my “usual” plugins along with one new one. Guess which one creamed the site.

I had to delete it because there was nothing there! However, I’ve sort of fixed the problem and think I’ve found the reason this happened. I completely reinstalled 2.9.2. I haven’t reconnected the database yet, but I did a little playing around. I activated a theme from a trusted source and my site went white again. The only thing different is that I downloaded the theme from *another* site, not the theme’s URI. I went to the URI, downloaded and activated the sam theme and voila! I have theme. I downloaded several themes from one source, and I think that’s where my problems began. So I have a little work ahead of me, but since the site only had about a half-dozen posts (I’m getting ready to bring it online in conjunction with the relaunch of my main, busy site), I didn’t lose much. Like I said in my original post … no panic.

which file does this go into? timthumb or thumbnail-poster?

Where would this be inserted? Not a newbie to WP, but still have serious coding issues. ??

One more thing, just to emphasize:

The junk was somehow invisibly coded into the header.php file and DID NOT APPEAR in the copy when ftp’d the site to my hard drive. It did not appear when I checked it through my ftp program. Until I went into the editor, I would not have known that there was anything wrong because it only appeared when I was in the editor area.
