“Set All First Images As Featured” is a plugin that fills in the field for the feature image which does help, so maybe you can look at that and add some of the functionality to identify the first image properly.

I have also used a tool to add featured image to posts that do not have one, that has helped to some extent

Image is on the first item on the post, floated to the top right

if i also make the feature image active then it works fine, but then i would have to edit thousands of posts

by default WP uses the first image properly with the list of articles so perhaps your selecting the wrong image from the post hierarchy

I installed WP to the root of my webhost and had it running fine. WP has index.php so its a standalone ready to go site.l

these seems to be a vast number of adblock users, they are the bane of blogs and web site galore

seems to be a lot of various blocker tools too, makes it harder to cope

I looked over your plug-in and it looks like a wholesale overhaul of a web site is needed to leverage the work you have done.

That would be very demanding for 99% of large sites.

Wonder if a converter for a stock SP might be an idea?
