I’m really would like to help you with contributing (solve issues, testing) and releasing stable 2.0 version. One of my projects needs working Alternate Headings feature, but I can’t use RC version in case of some important reasons.
And I have enough time for contributing now. It would be great if you provide your roadmap to stable 2.0.

It seems that Alternate Heading feature is fixed in 2.0-rc2 version from github.Please, try version from github.
Hope, that plugin author will bump version at wp.org as well.

It seems that Alternate Heading feature is broken in version 1.7 when Show as Hierarchy is disabled in options.
When show Hierarchy is enabled in options — Alternate Heading is working fine on 1.7And @shazahm1hotmailcom, it seems that Alternate Heading feature is fixed in 2.0-rc2 version from github.
Any way to move forward with releasing stable 2.0 version to WP.org repo?I could help with that.

TML, need a solution ??ohh… found the solution..
You just need to set
enctype="multipart/form-data"in profile-form.php file inside yur theme..Have exactly issue as @richplane.
Contributor has standart HTML input type=”file” on frontend profile page template(TML) and “Upload” input type=”submit”.
If i select file in upload file input and press “Upload” page refreshes without uploading my media to wordpress media library..But for authors and above — all works great.
I found that function wpua_is_author_or_above check’s what to show on frontend.. but seems input file upload — broken ??
Browser console don’t provide any error’s while submitting form..
