  • I’m getting the following error when uploading lots of images at once:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in …/wp-content/plugins/exhibitimg/exhibit10f.php on line 638
How do I increase this time?

Ringmaster, i’m running the latest version 1.1d. Can you please clarify the purpose\usefullness of the “rebuild thumbnails” feature? When would it be useful to run it. Also, If I run it, it takes my watermarked images and creates thumbnails that have watermarks on them. Initial thumbnails don’t have watermarks. Is this normal, or a bug?
Another thing, I have my WordPress admin window configured to a static width. A width that is not compatible with Exhibit’s edit area sizes. Look at the image to see what I mean:

What do I change, and where, to adjust the width of these areas? Is this in a CSS or something?

    @ringmaster:
At first I thought I had this watermark feature locked in but now it seems that it is more complicated than I thought.
Remove watermark? Is this even possible? I thought that when you add a watermark you end up with a merged image. How can you remove it and then re-apply it?
I think I have an intermeadiate solution. Why not apply the watermark when you click on the icon to transfer the image over to the blog post. This makes sense because you would normaly do all your rotations before you add the image, no? Now that you have the preview pop-up you can tell before you add the image if you need to rotate it or not. In the end, if you really screw up then you can always remove the image from the post (and the directory) and re-upload it.
    @symantix
I love rotation on the server! Also, judging by the quality of work that ringmaster puts into his code, do you think he would settle for a solution like that? No, no. If you’re gonna do it then you might as well do it right. I’m sure we can add watermarking with proper usability.

    Sorry, ringmaster…
I just thought about it some more. It doesn’t make sense to add the watermark upon uploading and keep it. What will happen is if you rotate the main image then the watermark will be rotated as well which is not nice.

    Yes, ringmaster…
Add a watermark upon upload and maintain that. Don’t keep adding a watermark. Of course if the image is deleted then re-uploaded you would add a watermark again. You can specify the location (on the server) of the watermark image in the config file. Also you can specify placement location (bottom right, left, top right, left etc.).
If you’re curious, the site I am using it on is here:

Check the Tutorial link on the right. Might give you an idea for an Exhibit manual?

Here I go again with the requests…
Have you thought of the idea of having a watermark automatically added to each image upon uploading?

Ok, ringmaster, I fixed the runtime error as you said.
Now it sort of works. When I hover over the icon for the first time, it shows the preview thumbnail properly. But curiously, the second time I hover the thumbnail seems to be streched verticaly! This stays streched for avery future hover of that icon. It’s like it thinks that the image is rotated so it changes the dimension but the image is not really rotated. It’s wierd.

Ok, I installed the latest version 1.1a and that seemed to fix the problem. Now I’m having another problem. In IE whenever I hover over the image icon and the rotate icon I get a dialog that pops-up a script error that says:
A runtime Error has occurred… etc.
    Line: 104
    Error: ‘iebody’ is undefined

Ok, but bloglet doesn’t seem to be WordPress friendly. The whole web seems to have MT envy. As far as I’m concerned, MT is dying a slow but steady death. Let’s move on…
Ok, so in any case what do we fill-in for the settings on bloglet for WordPress?
    For example:
    1. weblog id
    2. server
    3. weblog type

MT is free? As far as I know they’ve chaanged the structure. Well the free version only handles 1 author. Which bring me to the next point. You don’t mention anywhere the ability to handle multiple authors which WordPress handles so well.

Ringmaster, again… praise for this plug-in.
Another feature request. I know you’re working on improving the images removal procedure so I won’t re-iterate that request. One thing I find annoying is to have to click on the preview checkbox for all uploaded images. It would be nice to add a setting in the cfg file to assume preview “on” for all attached images. This would eliminate the need for even showing the selector.

ringmaster, I have a different bug that shows up in IE. I always use FireFox so I didn’t notice it until now. Here’s a link with a screen capture. Any ideas?

Ringmaster, great plugin and great features.
One thing I would like to see is the ability to remove images just as easy as it is to add them. Since you already have code that triggers when someone clicks on an icon to add the images to the preview column, there is no reason that you can’t have this feature to remove images. You can have a little button labeled “remove” next to each thumbnail. When you click on the remove button, that image will be removed instantly from the list. This would be consistent with the behavior required to add images. maybe add in a “remove all” button as well.

Ringmaster, Thank You for your response.
I’m presently implementing a conference related blog and would like the features I discussed to be in place before the launch. Any idea when 1.1 will be released? As if you don’t have enough pressure already…

I can’t wait for the new version!
I still have the following main requests based on your latest update on the new features:
    1) It would be great to have subdirectories automatically created based on the author name.
    2) level 10 admin should have the ability (from within Exhibit) to delete other’s directories and images. Of course author’s can delete their own images and directories.
    3) Each Author should only “see” their own directory and cannot use other author’s images or navigate into other’s directories. They should live within their directory space. All these directories can be subs of the main image folder.
    4) Have the ability to default the preview checkboxes to always on. Configurable?
    5) I would like to seperate the level requirements for the default WP upload and the exhibit upload. Is it possible to have a level assigned in the config file for the minimum level required to upload images in exhibit?
