figured it out
I removed <?php _e('Published', 'hueman'); ?> <time class="published" datetime="<?php echo $published_date; ?>"><?php echo $published_date; ?>
and it just shows the updated date now

My child theme was causing the issue

Ok, I disabled all my plugins and none of them where causing the issue.

Thanks for the help. I just redid the single.php file from the original and the problem is solved.

I turned off comment plugins and the issue is not resolved. These features were working until I updated the theme.
