No I’m not getting any spam and have had little over the years. But I’m sure that if I insert the credit link in the footer it will be much more easier for them to find the blog and start attempting comment spamming, and that is why I think I need to protect the credit link so it will be harder to scan it, as I’m sure they use automatic scanning techniques.

Spam on my WordPress powered blogs have never been a problem while using anti-spam plugin, although some have gotten through.

I just want to minimize the attempts and make them stay away.

I seem to have solved this by removing both the newly added and modified WordPress language files in /wp-content/languages.

But I’m not sure if I should mark this topic as solved as I need to know why the WordPress 3.8 update makes the backend use a localized version as set for the language code in wp-config file, but was only intended for the frontend localized version.

I have no need for translated admin section as I think it impractical. I need to have the admin section terms recognizable in the English language. Besides the prepared WordPress localized version is just partly translated.

I thought my post was not offtopic as I was experiencing the same problems when SSL is activated.

I created another topic with the same errors as the topic starter mentions.

I hope this is not off topic, but I enabled SSL for WordPress admin last weekend, and now some links are non-responsive, like the Edit link for a translation file.
