Firstly,thanks for the responses.

It was my worry, that the code in the file looked like it erased .php files.
There is also a file in the same directory that is called xmlrcp.php, which I’ve Googled and found out could also be a malicious file.
I guess I’d better run some malware scans on my site, then try to clean it up.

I don’t seem to be able to get the Columns plugin to work for me.
There could well be a way to get it to work that I don’t know, but it seems to me that shortcodes won’t work in the the theme options editor where you add homepage content. If I try and use the shortcodes on the page itself, I think the theme options editor is overriding any changes made.

Once again, I’m a novice so there possibly could be a workaround that I’m just unaware of.

Are there any other suggestions I could try?

I think it seems worth me installing Firefox just to use Firebug if nothing else, it seems as though it could be very useful.

I am kind of aware of Firebug, I happened to briefly read something a about it couple of days ago about it. My understanding is that it’s, and please excuse my simple explanation, an addon that lets you hover over elements of a webpage to find the code for it. Useful I suppose if you need to find a certain colors hex code.

Is there any similar addon for Chrome?
