Hello, apoligies for not replying with my solution! Unfortunately I couldn’t find a real and applicable fix for this issue…and having another problem with godaddys wordpress hosting on another site (sftp errors), i decided to change the plan to their standard hosting and the switch in servers completely fixed the issue.

My theory is that my computer may have had an ip ban at one point and some sort of script or corrupt file on my harddrive made it unable to use wordpress uploading.

Whether thats the case or not, as i said moving the site fixed it and i havent come across this issue ever again.

Best of luck to others and thanks for the community help!

    Hi Samuel,

    Thanks for all your help.

I think the problem with deciding it’s a firewall or some other connection issue – is that I have logged on and done all commands without a problem on 9 different wordpress sites I design right now…I went through every single one again yesterday to confirm: published a page, and added multiple media files. All working perfectly fine, on all sorts of WordPress versions and assortment of plugins.

If it were a connection issue or something not related to the specific server, then I would assume the same problem would happen on all (or some other) of my wordpress installs.

Your “computer” cannot be blocked. That’s not how internet works. But your IP address can be falsely detected and blocked. It’s happened before.

Just to follow up on this – don’t computers have a physical address or computer specific MAC address? I am not well versed on that, so could be completely incorrect.

But I DO believe a file or php execution could have been written and saved on my computer that is running or blocking this computer when it logs onto this specific web domain. Do you agree that is possible? It is literally the only thing I could see being the cause of this at this stage of testing.

Hey – thanks for the discussion. As of this morning I am having the same problems on this computer.

    Responses:
    * I have the same theme base on a few other sites, no problems with uploading or using it on this computer
    * I have 100’s of GB of space over 3 SSD hard drives
    * I wouldn’t be surprised if some temp file or restriction was added or placed on this computer itself automatically, and it’s just sitting there hidden.

    1. I tried a .txt, .doc and .zip and had the problems, yes!
    2. I agree – and have had my IP blocked over the years from different hosts. Once again, because uploading/publishing works on other devices on this site, and they told me the IP is unblocked, they can’t do anything else with it.

One thing I noticed is the Limit Login & Attempts is full of attempted logins. Probably 5-6 failed attempts a day. Is that standard, or perhaps something like that has affected my logging in?

Because this issue is SO unique, and SO focused on a single computer for a single site – I am almost tempted to just finish the design on another computer, and call it a day. This is far to weird and frustrating for me to proceed any further, and I can’t find a single other person on the internet who has come across a similar scenario with a resolution!

My next step was to export the site and sql database and mirror it on another server and see what happens. If I can operate the same site perfectly on another server, I could at least place the blame on some sort of GoDaddy-specific lockout on this computer, or a file that has been created on this computer that is triggering a kill on my publishing/uploading.

Another day, another glimmer of hope – followed by failure.

Logged on, was able to make one page change, and upload one photo. Added a second photo, and the stalling and HTTP error begun again.

Can’t publish a second update to any page.

I will also add that I have disabled and re-enabled all plugins, themes, etc.

As I can perform on the site on other devices, and other people can do the same – I concluded it probably isn’t a plugin or theme related issue.

    Hi Mark,

I already tried that – with multiple account privileges – same result!

    Hi Mark,

Yes – I can upload the same failed images. Any size, any type…as it should be!

Yes, I just checked that website with all 3 devices and all read:
    Your IPv4 Address Is:
    24.140.242.205

I still think there is a very specific LOCK, or BAN, or automatic REFUSAL of this particular machine, that was triggered somehow along the way between my computer and (what I believe) is the server/host. Not my IP, but something that recognizes just this desktop itself.

Does that make any sense, or am I just going insane? ??

And as I also stated earlier – any and all pictures/media I try upload, or any page changes I try publish on both my cellphone or laptop, both work as intended, quickly and without error. All within the same username as I am using on this desktop.

    Samuel,
I couldn’t agree more – and appreciate the help in any form.

    No pictures work specifically.
As I said, each morning I tried (as Godaddy originally told me it was a server-wide issue…but wasn’t related to this in the end as they have resolved it), and sometimes a picture might go through, or a page edit would save…but never any more than 1, and normally it just wouldn’t work.

I can give you admin access to check it out, but the problem is that it will more than likely WORK for you, as it only seems to be this particular desktop I am on that is causing a problem.

On each site? I don’t follow sorry! I am only referring to the one site.

    I don’t do multisite, nope!

    Update:

    *Hard reset on modem
*Rolled back the database and files to a restore point 3 weeks ago.

    Still having the issue!

I’m tempted to try export and import the entire site on another server and see how it reacts.

    Hi Samuel,

They are very basic 30-100kb files, small sizes, done in Photoshop at 72.
I am really confident I am not making any glaring mistakes on my end, as I am working in 8-10 different WordPress sites as a living all day and night!

    Kmessinger,

When I run the console and do the image uploads on any other wordpress site, the async-upload.php error doesn’t show up!

    Thread Starter Unsu

    (@unsu)

    Hey,

Yes – tried on all 3 browsers (well, all 3 relevant!)
    Console on chrome returns:
    POST https://repwindowsdoors.net/wp-admin/async-upload.php net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

I’ll try the hard reset right now on the modem.

I was also thinking of trying to restore the WP database/files to a week ago or something. One good thing Godaddy Managed wordpress does is a full site backup every day for 30 days.

Once again, because it works on the same account on the same IP on my other devices, it doesn’t make sense to me, but who knows – it could work!
