The above link was not intended to be “helpful” beyond demonstrating the permalink format desired; it is in fact copied and pasted from the WordPress/Options/Permalinks page. I am afraid I concentrated more on presenting rather than illustrating the problem.

Which, thanks entirely to your input, is resolved. In providing WordPress with an .htaccess file of its own, the issue cleared up immediately. I greatly appreciate your assistance, despite the fact that my lack of thoroughness made it a more difficult problem to address than it might have otherwise been.

    Thank you.

I am not impressed with DreamHost’s control panel, and, fairly-basic user that I am, the usability of this hosting feature is important to me—which is why cPanel is preferred.

BlueHost was actually first in my latest round-up of options, but I have since read allegations of poor customer service. Now, these may be simply the perspective of specific users, or infrequent occurences from an otherwise supportive staff; but can I be sure? I do not want to repeat the past—for a fourth time. Pity hosts don’t offer hassle-free trial runs…

The one element I forgot to back up, naturally.
We cannot all learn the easy way.

    Thank you for your response.

I appreciate your industry, and on behalf of a perfect stranger, no less.

    1) Ah, simple enough—for anyone with eyes in their head. ?? Thus, once I

    – establish a rank system (e.g. 2 = mildly disturbing content; apathetic readers only, or 3 = incredibly graphic content; blind readers only—I kid, naturally),

    – note that system for future reference, and

    – figure out how to manage reader levels,

I should be all set, eh?

    2) 2.0—and I meant, in the event that clarification is needed, reader levels as relates to this particular plugin. (Does the Role Manager plugin happen to correspond to this issue?)

Thank you for your input, alsosara!

    Further questions:

    1) Is there a method of determining the ViewLevel of a post beyond entering “vl=x” into the entry body? Once saved, all (visible) indication seems to vanish along with the command (“vl=x“).

    2) How do I set reader levels?

    3) Is there no central command/base through which to monitor both the aforementioned categories, post levels as well as reader restrictions, similar to WP’s Authors & Users page?

    re-post

I have inserted the desired permalink structure (based on /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ exactly) into the .htaccess file (chmoded to 666) in my root directory; however, in attempting to pull up comments, archived posts, etc., I continue to get a 404 error claiming no such URL. In attempting to pull up the .htaccess file through WP via ‘Manage’ + ‘Files’ + ‘.htaccess (for rewrite rules)’–a route presumably preset, I am met with the smugly apologetic, “Oops, no such file exists! Double check the name and try again, merci.”

    A little help…por favor?

What entries I posted prior to fiddling with the time format remain incorrect. Does WP not sync all posts once a setting such as this is adjusted? Is the only solution to manually adjust the timestamps of those early entries?

Is the “latest entries” feature derived from a plugin? which?

    Very put-together.
