In reply to: [AnnounceME] AnnounceME bugs and recommendationsGreat, now you can deal with school things till summer holiday.
Weaver theme (a Twenty Ten child theme) involves jQuery on frontend for some effects.
Weaver theme is here:

In reply to: [AnnounceME] AnnounceME bugs and recommendationsA notice: I have discovered 2 files of jQuery with 2 different version in use, with the JavaScript Debugger of the SeaMonkey webbrowser.
The one included in the WP pack:
jQuery JavaScript Library v1.4.4
../wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js…and the one in announceme plugin folder:
jQuery JavaScript Library v1.3.2I am far from being expert, but I suspect that 2 different versions of jQuery files in use can cause conflict with other plugins, and also with default WP things which use jQuery.
(Now I am busy with many other things, and I have no opportunity to testing this on a live site.)

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Automatic update stops at wordpress-3.0.zip downloadI have had the same problem, with previous versions too.
I have switched off all the plugins (as mass action), and then the WP update has worked fine.
Though I do not like to switch off all the plugins, because some of them needs reset after this, but this step was necessary.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: Advanced Category Excluder] Attention! Do NOT update to 1.4The only thing which I know for such case so far is to delete the wrong plugin via FTP, in this case at
*your-blog*/wp-content/plugins/advanced-category-excluder
(You can do this for e.g. with Total Commander with its built-in FTP (File Transport Protocol.)Then you can enter into your blog admin again, and there you can reinstall the new version.
If you may have no FTP access to your WordPress folders and files, then ask your WordPress provider to delete the mentioned plugin.

In reply to: [Plugin: Advanced Category Excluder] Attention! Do NOT update to 1.4Luckily there is a link at Download for Other Versions (listed from 1.32 to 1.0)
A remark: WP Widget Cache can cause refreshing problems (the wanted changes not take effect). My solution was to change the actual theme to other, and then back, this helped.

In reply to: [Plugin: Advanced Category Excluder] Attention! Do NOT update to 1.4Surely something wrong with 1.4 edition.
I have got fatal error with automatic upgrade.
With manual upgrade, there is no error message, but v.1.4 not excludes the categories which are set to exclude.
Worth to wait with the upgrade to 1.4 until the plugin author fix it.Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Can’t use Latvian letters in User names?!I have tried all plugins switched off, and Gears reload, but these didn’t do any change in the names.
Unfortunately when I have checked the database, the names are there also without accented letters. A strange conversion happened.
Maybe the webhost provider upgraded the MySQL version, and this is a side effect? I do not know.At present:
Server version: 5.0.67-community
MySQL client version: 5.0.67
phpMyAdmin – 2.11.9.1I manually have overwritten the names in the phpMyAdmin (in the users, and usermeta fields). There were only 2 names affected, and now everything seems to be OK with the names.
Of course this is just a temporary bugfixing.Unfortunately I am not a programmer, and even I don’t know how to submit a bug report to Trac.

In reply to: Can’t use Latvian letters in User names?!I have experienced so the Hungarian accented characters have disappeared from user names in WP 2.7.
(For e.g. Béla becomes Bla now.)
All in the previous versions these accented names were OK.
I think this is a v.2.7 related bug.
