In reply to: Nextgen gallery plugin update failed. All my galleries are goneBTW, I have used NGG for a couple of years now and this is the first time there has been an issue with it or any of its updates. I still highly recommend it. NGG isn’t the only plug-in that has had problems with the WP 3.6 update. When I reloaded NGG 1.9.13 (the last update before 2.0) it worked perfectly with WP 3.6.
I say all that to say not to give up on NGG. I haven’t looked lately, but when I was searching for a good plugin to handle my pictures and slideshows, I extensively shopped and tested plugins and NGG was what I picked. I haven’t had any regrets which is why I went back to v.1.9.13 and will wait for the next update or two (maybe 2.02?) to come out before trying to update again.
2.0

originally installed through the WP installer. According to what I read on the NGG support forum, you should NOT uninstall 2.0 unless you are willing to lose all of your existing galleries.
I followed their procedures to revert to v.1.9.13 without actually uninstalling 2.0. (Thank you photocrati for that procedure…it worked perfectly.) The re-installed v. 1.9.13 works great with WP 3.6, so there is definitely something twitchy going on with the interface between WP 3.6 and NGG 2.0. I hope it gets fixed soon, because I like what I see in 2.0…much easier user interface for my clients to upload their own pix.

In reply to: Nextgen gallery plugin update failed. All my galleries are goneI’m no expert, but according to the plugin’s developer on the NGG support forum, if you uninstall NGG, your galleries are gone.
Depending on how extensive your collection of galleries was, if you have a saved backup of your site, you may want to restore it and then update the rest of your site with changes made since the last back up.
I too had problems with the upgrade to NGG 2.0. I eventually reverted to v.1.9.13 using the instructions provided in the link contained in the post I referred to above.
Wish I had better news, but I think restoring a back up is your only option at this time.
Okay. My bad. I thought it was the theme because I am running two sites on the same ISP, managed from the same local computer: one with Weaver II and the other one with EduPress both with the same plugins. Weaver II worked, when EduPress didn’t I figured it had to be the theme.
I just switched the site with EduPress to Weaver II…and I still have the SAME PROBLEM. I cannot upload any new pictures. Everything else seems to still be working.
I just figured out that, at least in my case, IT’S THE THEME! I have sites using the Weaver II theme and it works like a champ. My site using EduPress won’t load a single picture (as described above.)
Same problem. I am a huge fan of NextGen Gallery…been successfully using it for about two years; using http, not https. Now no new pix will load. Here’s what I have done so far:
1) tried it on both MS Explorer and Firefox…same results on both.
2) tried to load a large batch (118) of new pix to an old gallery…it went through the motions, up to about 90% loaded for each picture, then popped up the yellow warning triangle with the scroll-over message “http problem”…none of them loaded.
3) cut down the size to under 10 pix…same problem except each one would get to 100% before the error triangle appeared.
4) tried loading a single pic…same problem.
5) tried creating a new gallery…nothing happened and while it looked like it might be successful, when you looked for the gallery it wasn’t there.
6) went to the “Manage Galleries” tab and tried to create a new gallery there…it worked.
7) tried loading images to the new gallery…same problem as above.
8) used a FTP software to manually load pix into the gallery file and then used the “look for new files” option; it found the pictures, assigned file numbers to them; but would not develop thumbnails for them or display them.
I’m not sure what else to try.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Custom Background Disapears in Codium-Extend Theme w/ Word 3.3I had the same problem (my background disappeared after the upgrade to WP 3.3) using the EduPress theme. I finally took kams33’s advice and loaded up the “Background Control” plug-in. I had to “fiddle” with it a bit, but it did work and my background is now back where it should be.
Thanks for the tip kams33!
