No; just don’t really know what to “fix” with it. We may just remove it and try something else.

Chrome. I’ll see what I can check.

I don’t think that’s it; I don’t think our site is quite that big yet; finally, Google did take it, a total of a little over 17,ooo urls; currently, it shows no errors and a little over 10,000 urls indexed.

Originally, it did generate the sitemap in real time; but, when I tried to update some of the settings, none of my updates were showing until the next day.

Google News finally took the sitemap the day after I originally installed it, after it was showing the updates I had made. How can I be sure it is updating properly now? And, pinging with new articles? Where would I find this info?

    Thanks–

I’m glad we started this link here; it was beginning to seem like we were the only ones w/ frustrations … LOL … I hope this thread helps someone else as much as it has helped us.

Just to report: We now have 15 indexed articles, each showing zero errors, so hoping we are starting down a good path on AMP.

Gooma2, that “two-tier” information was enlightening. As far as the developer … excellent idea, but whether or not we will be able to afford that option is another matter altogether. But, on the other hand, w/ stuff like this, can one ultimately afford NOT to access that option?

Thank you, Neotrope; I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

I’ve been able to confirm, as you suggested, that the pages are being created via the /amp/ rendering. And, I have checked on the AMP site and read … just having a hard time understanding a lot of it.

The response I get when I “validate” is that GN does not see any AMP pages generated. That is why I am concerned, and I don’t see anything on the AMP pages that addresses specifically the issue of time lapse, from when the AMP feature is activated and when they can be expected to start “finding” pages. I just know our being “found” in GN has dropped dramatically, and it is really alarming.

And, again, I appreciate your responding; I guess right now we’re just kinda stuck in a “hold” pattern until they “find” us via AMP … sigh.

Does anyone know how long it typically takes for Google News to begin recognizing & indexing AMP pages once this plug-in is activated? Any information anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. ??

I thank you for your patience, as I am going thru this process for the first time, and have no idea what I am doing.

So, are you saying then that CSS editing is a separate issue from the ad tag that I am trying to add, and does not apply to what I am doing? If so, I’ll just forget about that completely, as I don’t want to make any actual changes to the theme or look of it; I just want to add this ad tag.

Or, actually, I may have that backwards; Forefront is a child theme of GeneratePress. This is what it says:

Forefront is a child theme of GeneratePress

It’s not recommended to add CSS to this file, as it will be lost if you ever update this child theme. Instead, use a Custom CSS plugin.

Where do I get a plugin like that?

    (@tvruckus)

Oh, okay; no problem there: https://www.tvruckus.com

Well, according to what I see, our Forefront theme has a child theme for template changes; it is called GeneratePress. That is where I found the header.php.

The ad tag is actually for a pop-up; the code we are being provided with can be placed either in the footer or header.

Hmmmmmm … okay, I have it playing. Now, not sure if this is the video, the plug-in or just my computer, but the video is starting and stopping. I don’t typically have that problem with videos on my computer, so I’m thinking it’s either a setting on the plug-in that I don’t have quite right yet, or maybe it is this video. I don’t have another video uploaded that I can test right now, but I will do that ASAP. ??

Thanks so much, codemovement.pk; you’ve gotten me on the right road!

Thanks for the suggestion; I appreciate it. I tried it, tho’, and could not use it; unfortunately, our server does not support FFMPEG unless you move to a dedicated server option. I’ll check out some other plug-in options; if anyone has a suggestion, would again be greatly appreciated. ??

Thank you for your quick reply!

I placed the ID code in as you advised, but it seems that I still am unable to share to Facebook (except for that one article I mentioned above). Could there be a problem w/ also having Jetpack? I deactivated “Sharing” and “Publicize” in it, but that did not seem to help.

Any additional ideas of what it could be? Thanks for anything you can suggest.
