In reply to: Page won’t update & image uploading issueHi @speculatrix,
I am not sure about the first problem. But let us first try to address the second one which I have had happen to me in the past.
The image upload issue is commonly caused by wrong file permissions. Your uploads directory should have correct file permissions otherwise WordPress will not be able to store your files in it or sometimes may not even display files from the upload directory. To set correct file permissions for your uploads directory, you would need a FTP client, like Filezilla.
Please follow the instructions given on the following website (It worked for me in the past):

In reply to: Broken linkHi @steveninaus,
Sorry about the broken link. I’ll see if we can fix that. However, based on what you have mentioned it looks like you would like to test out a new theme without changing anything on your live site. I would simply try this out on a WordPress copy on localhost or your local development environment. Only if things look good to you, upload it on the server.
Hope that helps.

In reply to: HTML to place an existing widget into Page–without any plugins.Hi @hbwilson,
Could you elaborate a little on “I would like to call an existing widget (one that shows recent blog posts) so populate a Page.” I am finding this a little difficult to infer.
I don’t think you can achieve this just using HTML. Do you know what widget is this? Does it have a short code that you could possibly use on other pages?

In reply to: text formatting for church siteYes, I think that would be appropriate. Additionally, if you think it’s more of a code editor fundamental issue you should record/capture it and send a link to it explaining what the problem is and what the expected outcome is. That would be very helpful.
Thanks once again.

In reply to: Google Map settingsHi @meihuwell,
Yes, do try it out and let me know. While I would like to help you out here with your second problem, I will have to request you to start a new thread for new problems. We cannot track all problems you face in the same thread.
Once you open a thread I am sure if not me some other volunteer will be glad to help you out.

In reply to: Not able to see Dashboard and other menusHi @alnoorspneeds,
Wow ! That’s unfortunate. When did this start happening? What did you change ? What’s your WordPress version, hosting etc?

In reply to: Google Map settingsHi @meihuwell,
That’s awesome that your issue was resolved. For your other question, you will not find one single plugin that will perform this task. You could get a “select box” plugin by searching online (I am sure there are a few) and then to show the results on the right hand side, you may have to code it in manually.
Hi @antorera,
Yes and this theme seems to have 6 months of free support. Are you eligible for that? If yes, you should submit a ticket describing your issue.

In reply to: too many calls to wordpress domain 66.155.40.186Hi @anniet,
Wow ! Okay, given the amount of information we have here, it may be difficult to understand the underlying cause for this behavior. Could you get a copy of the logs and may be share a few lines which are showing the IP. Not sure who is making these calls and why.
Your hosting service provider should provide you the logs via email.

In reply to: text formatting for church siteHi @okieman,
I hear you. I still think you should give plugins a try if you haven’t already. While they do add extra code that doesn’t mean that they slow down performance or pose a guaranteed security loop hole. I would recommend you trying the following plugin:

If you are still not happy with the results, we could explore other options.

In reply to: How to increase our bbpress forum audience?Hi @yiggory,
I think you may need to do some marketing for this newly created forum. There are no inbuilt features for that (at least none that I have come across). You will find some social media plugins but unless you have traffic they may not be that effective.
You could try Yoast plugin to start off with the SEO. Then you could either hire a full-service digital agency or read and understand about various techniques of digital marketing and increasing web traffic.
There are many analytics tools like Google Analytics that help you measure the incoming and outgoing traffic on your website.
I would still consider hiring a professional Internet Marketing expert to increase audience and grow your forum.
Hi @antorera,
1. Yes, you could be correct. The theme must be doing this intentionally to bring in the responsiveness. By the way, what theme are you using?
2. Again, this seems to be a theme related issue. Try and approach the theme developer or their support team to help you out here. They may be the best to handle a theme specific issue.

In reply to: How to run pages locallyHi @kerala683581,
It’s quite easy ?? Here is are some links to articles that explain setting up WordPress locally:
2. https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/setting-up-xampp/
You could also watch a YouTube video for the same: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHMV6tUuadA
If you are using Windows Machine, I would prefer using WAMP – its just slightly easier in my opinion.

In reply to: too many calls to wordpress domain 66.155.40.186Hi @anniet,
Any reason why you are not running WordPress 4.6.1 which is the latest? What is the entire URL that is being called? You have just provided the I.P address.
