In reply to: setting up test siteWhat I decided to do is to copy all my WordPress files into a new folder then modify the settings according to the Moving WordPress page. As long as there is not direct link to the new pages I suppose there isn’t any harm to this. I will let you know how it goes in case anyone is interested in doing the same.

Above it says Front page displays and I have checked a static page
Front page: is set to the page that is the home page
Posts Page: is set to the page that is the blog page.Seems like it is set up correctly but still only one post shows!

I did follow the instructions in the Codex for creating a new page template.
I didn’t know that you had to create different sidebar file for each side bar widget. When I go to the widgets panel I see that I have 6 available sidebar widgets. What do I need to create the sidebar file?what I am trying to do is use WordPress as a CMS for a small site. So the sidebars would be different on each page and the header would change as well. I find plenty of tutorials but none that gives the complete steps so I am trying to fit different tutorials together but each has a slightly different coding.

DirectoryIndex default.shtml index.php
works like a charm.
