  • Reply to Rodica – I was using ResponsiveBoat and it was completely up to date. I just clicked on the update and my site crashed immediately.

To PiaBrix – so glad to see another newbie here! Thanks, I don’t feel so alone…

My site is now working – but the ‘solution’ I found probably isn’t ideal. I contacted my host, Site Ground, and they were able to get into my account and change my WordPress theme.

With a new theme activated, I was able to access the site do a ‘live preview’ of various themes. ALL the Zerif themes displayed the same error message, something about ‘line 75.’

SO, I DELETED the Zerif Theme from WordPress. I spent a few hours searching for a new theme, as I need something really reliable, especially as I’m not a computer expert!

But in the end, I really liked the look of the Zarif theme… so I reinstalled the theme. Then I did a Iive preview and it worked! – it actually put all the images and text back in the right places.
After the live preview worked, I cringed while I activated the theme. I was expecting to get ‘the white death screen’ again, but it actually works.

Also, does anyone know if the people responsible for Zerif Lite have fixed the problem? Can I safely change my theme back to Zerif?

I’ve gone to the recommended site https://tgmpluginactivation.com/download/. It asks for information – can someone help me?
    It asks for:
    Text Domain
Function Prefix and Name. I’ve tried all sorts of combinations, but I don’t know what it needs – so it won’t download or generate the fix/code I need.

I am new to WordPress – only here 5 days.

My site crashed this morning after I updated the Zerif lite theme. I see that a solution has been posted, but I have no idea how to do it! Sorry, I am a beginner, and the solution was like a foreign language – I see that I made sense to others – can someone help me translate into a step-by-step guide, so I can fix the problem?

I know that FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, but how does one “FTP into a site”??? How does one refresh it??? where does one find the folder name zerif-lite??

“Then FTP into your site and place it in the folder name zerif-lite. Refresh the site and it should work.”

My host kindly got into my site and changed the theme. Has the theme Zerif-lite now been fixed? In other words, rather than do the ‘fix’ is it now safe just to change my theme back to Zerif-Lite??

Thanks very much! I will pay attention and memorise how to solve the problem – please be patient – this is my first website…
