it could be a conflict with Gravity Forms?

yeah spam folder was the first thing I checked

when Popup Maker is activated, Visual Composer is not loaded anymore in the backend, and I see all the tags in the editor.

Visual Composer is broken for me too, and on this site I don’t use Ultimate Addons

well I can tell you that I’ve noticed that all these classes:
.pum-container, .pum-content, .pum-content + .pum-close, .pum-content + .pum-close:active, .pum-content + .pum-close:focus, .pum-content + .pum-close:hover, .pum-overlay, .pum-title

use font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
instead of inherit

strange, it worked for me in 3 different sites

yes, you have to write CLOSE in the input area again
you will see a placeholder “CLOSE”
