Suppose I create a WordPress menu, eg Home About Contact …
I want ‘go back to the page you just came from’ to be one of the options, so
Home About Contact Back … The menu options contain hard links — to a contact page, a home page, an about page…but a ‘back’ link would need to change depending on what the last page visited was–how can I add this to a menu?

I think you have it; I am indeed trying to link to the image file. I will soon go to try it via pages. Thank you.

lauriemrauch: I have tried to do this. The first image opens to its link, the second image, but that has lost its link and is unresponsive.
