There are 2 methods:

1) In new installation, replace wp-content of your old installation and upload old database

2) Use wordpress.com to import and then export via wordpress.com to your blog.

Yes, you can post to a new folder named files or images and link it in your post.

It is preferable if you upload while writing posts.

You can also check if any website is using wordpress by adding “wp-admin” in the URL:

for example: mashable.com/wp-admin

If this exist, then they are using wordpress.
