Go to Gallery > Manage Gallery in the admin and make sure that the relative paths are the same for the old and new locations. Then simply click on the “Scan Folder for new images” button.
Seems like a slow process, but it’s the best I’ve found so far. Update here if there’s a quicker way to migrate images.
