Hi. That is very kind of you. But I really just want plugin! I have done plenty of css work but it seems it always means problems with maintenance.

The website is avantgardescience.com. Can’t see any way to edit my first post.

Hi. This does not work! Have you tried it? A right click on the menu item I want removed just gets me the standard right click menu of the os – Copy, Select All, Print selection …

Hi. Thanks. I don’t think this addresses my question. I found the block ok. But I cannot do anything with it unless I make it all static links. And then I have to manage everything by hand. Or that is the way it looks to me.

Saving the page does it. It just takes a while.

    Ok. Thanks. Have done.

Not resolved but marking resolved as it is now a duplicate.

Hopefully answer will be found on the Yoast branch here:

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I am stumbling about trying to set up my Tags!

    It is simple.

    Put in a row block.

Put the navigation block into the row block.

Put the search block into the row block.

Thanks. I am sure there is a way to do this with blocks. I really want to avoid code for the ease of updating and / or changing theme.

I had a look at columns, but I think you mean rows. Cannot see a way to make the menu into a row. I thought it would be a row already and I could add the search box to the row.

Solved! I just went to the Yoast breadcrumbs page for settings and blanked out the field for text for home page.

Hope all this helps someone in the future.

Thanks for all the help. I hope your code will be a big help to someone.

I solved my problem very simply because there is a breadcrumb block.

But in the end I found out how to make Yoast SEO breadcrumb work. Just put the shortcode in a header in FSE.

    Hope this helps someone.

Thanks Michael. Very reluctant to use code because of potential problems with updates, not to mention moving to a new theme. I am trying to keep this very very simple!

But it is simple! I just put the Yoast shortcode in a header in FSE. Magic!

However, I could really do with a bit of help still. It has home in twice:

“Home > Home > Quantum Karma”

In the full site editing interface the fields are:

“Home > Dummy Parent > Dummy Title”

(This was in a breadcrumb block I found. The Yoast one looks just like the output. But I thought this might help diagnose why Home is in twice.)

Thanks for this. I am very anxious to stay in the block methodology. Are you telling me that there is no breadcrumb block? Because I went through all kinds of difficulties trying to add a social media block with all the big names in. And as with this issue loads of widgets and code solutions came up. But in the end I found a simple social media gutenberg block which did just what I wanted. And the payoff is that it is future proof. And I want a breadcrumb on every page, so I don’t really want to go editing every page.

Many thanks. The last thing I want is the old system. The new one is very good.

I am trying to install a breadcrumb block. I searched for ‘breadcrumb block’ but every single result seems to require going to Appearance -> Widgets, so presumably not the kind of block I am looking for. I just want to add breadcrumb functionality to a 2022 installation.

Thanks. Great. And now I feel a bit stupid for not having noticed! Legacy of being a wrinkly who did not grow up with the pc. I think my difficulties with things like this and managing a phone is because I don’t ‘play with’ the interface a bit. Another thing to learn!

Thanks again. Should have trusted you. That facility is a long way down the list of things it can do, and I did not read it all. Apologies.
