I built a site for my local history soc, on WP.com, which seems Ok. We wanted a dom name and third party hosting, so I ordered this from LiquidSix, who I’d previously used for html sites. So, I had to copy my .com site to the new host.
After good support from LS, I downloaded the export (database)file, edited wp-config.php, and uploaded WP files to the root. All I had, was all of the text, and images on pages & posts only. No media gallery, or contact form. I reloaded the same theme, uploaded images again from my computer, and FTP’d into WP win a plug-in. Time consuming.
My questions are why:
– doesn’t WP download images/media, when you create an export file?
– don’t existing plug-ins & widgets come across?
– aren’t all of the widgets used previously available?
I really wanted a website, not a hobby. Any help or advice appreciated.
