In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Two] Navigation No permission & missing menuI think you aren’t actually editing the page, you are editing the site but from the POV of the front page, if that makes sense.
When I am logged into wordpress and I want to edit a page, if I click edit page in the wordpress top-bar, it brings me to the page content only. If I click edit site, it will bring me to the template version of the front page.
It looks like whatever edits we do there, will effect the template parts because the front page calls in those parts. You can also add some custom css tags for making things look fancy through the template parts. (You can see how I am trying to make the nav bar a little easier to use here.)
I am also learning as I go with this. ??
(Welcome to WordPress, I’ve been using it for 15 years or so and this is by far the biggest change I have seen so far.)Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Two] Navigation No permission & missing menuIf you are looking to set up a navigation menu, what I have done on 3 different sites using twenty twenty two and full site editor is set it up directly in the header template.
As people here have already pointed out, the menu customization is different now. It happens directly in a template. So by modifying it on the header template, it automatically assigns that menu across the site.
You get there by clicking on Appearance > Edit > template parts > header
To get to template parts, you can toggle the templates navigation (not to be confused with the navigation block that you are looking for ?? ) at the left once you get into the editor or select template parts from the top menu.
Once you are in the header, if you do not see the navigation menu that means you will need to add a navigation block to the header.
(Reading this, this may be clear or completely unclear… let me know and I’ll put together some images somewhere for you to see what I mean.)
Hello! Somehow I did not receive a notification that you had responded to this topic. I checked today to see if anyone else had asked this question since my initial post and I see your responses.
Well.
I tried it again and it works! Thank you! From what I can tell in some github conversations, .current-menu-parent or ancestor is not automatically assigned (yet…hopefully.) in twenty twenty two. So you are right – the Parent ID seems the best way to make this work for now.
One of my goals in creating course content is ensuring that learners know where they are at all times. This little bit of code helps with that immensely.
I can’t tell you how happy I am ??
Thank you!Hi and thanks for this!
You must have caught the human body as a top level page before I realized I had forgot to set its parent ??
The structure will be:
Course content > Physical Wellness, Emotional Wellness, Spiritual Wellness, Mental Wellness. Then each of those four pages will have 3 or 4 further subpages ex:
Physical wellness > The human body, diseases, staying healthyEach of these pages are related to each other as pages and also within the menu, I am adding them manually as sub menu items.
I tried your code but nothing happened. It could also be that things shifted when I changed the taxonomy of the pages… So ideally, I will figure out some css that isn’t specific to an individual page but related to the menu order, if that makes sense!
Thanks again!
Hello,
I contacted my hosting provider with all of the info you gave me. This was the response they gave me:Our developer has fixed this issue with XML-RPC.
It was found that the jetpack plugin at installations caused a conflict by memory, not by the conflict with xmlrpc, in the same way the permission was added so that the xmlrpc was not accessible,In any case, Jetpack isn’t causing a critical error anymore, and the xml-rpc endpoint page is no longer showing an error page either, which is good!
Thanks for your assistance,
TracyI just noticed that the add-on domain also shows a 404 page when I go to fnaesc-cspnea.org/xmlrpc.php but in this case, I was able to activate jetpack without getting a critical error. Strange. And this is also the case on other blogs I have on different servers (but with same hosting company). Ex: leadingfromtheheart.org

Hi and thanks for your response – that is great to know about the stats and subscriber info!
The xmlrpc.php file is there with permissions set to 0644, like all of the other php files (this was likely a default, I have not changed anything relating to permissions)
There doesn’t seem to be anything in the .htaccess file related to it.
No security plugins.
I was able to activate jetpack on the 2nd site yesterday afternoon (an addon domain at fnaesc-cspnea.org ). This was after I had removed and reinstalled WordPress. Since it is accessible there but not on the main domain, I don’t think the host is blocking anything.
Earlier I said I hadn’t changed anything related to permissions BUT I did upgrade the PHP to the latest version from a deprecated one. Could that have affected things?
Thanks again for your help!

In reply to: [Translate Multilingual sites - TranslatePress] Translating category namesHello – thanks for your reply.
I don’t need the slug translated, just the name of the category.
I may just work around this for now by making each category bilingual.
Thank you!Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Publicize Error code: -32300Wow, sorry but that is too much work for a plugin! I don’t have time to do that. It works on all of my other blogs that are hosted by the same hosting company. I think it will be easier just to use other services.
Thanks anyways.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Publicize Error code: -32300Thanks! Ok – did it. I disconnected then logged back in to re-connect. Still getting the same error message.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Publicize Error code: -32300Doesn’t work… My site is not communicating with JetPack, apparently.
Your site isn’t reaching the Jetpack servers. HTTP: name lookup timed out Your site isn’t securely reaching the Jetpack servers. HTTPS: Connection time-out It looks like your site can not communicate properly with Jetpack. SELF: Array ( [headers] => Array ( [server] => nginx [date] => Wed, 13 May 2015 13:46:11 GMT [content-type] => text/plain;charset=utf-8 [connection] => close [x-pingback] => https://jetpack.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php [expires] => Wed, 11 Jan 1984 05:00:00 GMT [cache-control] => no-cache, must-revalidate, max-age=60 [pragma] => no-cache [x-hacker] => Jetpack Test ) [body] => {"error":"Unknown Error","error_description":"An unknown error has occurred."} [response] => Array ( [code] => 400 [message] => Bad Request ) [cookies] => Array ( ) [filename] => )
I tried some of the suggestions: changing the theme, disabling plugins, checking the XMLRPC file. No difference when changing themes or disabling plugins. XMLRPC file says what it is supposed to say on one line only.

Thank you, Dennis. I had a feeling that the event page content existed outside of the regular blog structure… It also does not appear in search results. I will be working on this over the weekend with someone who is helping mewith the project. If we come up with anything, we’ll share it with you.
