i have done the deed, but xampp came along and helped me install the data base. when I go and do https://localhost/wordpress, it comes up on a page where I have to click on it. When I do that I get my site but it only allows me to post. I cannot get to an admin panel or anything else. Man is it strange. I want to reinstall, how do I go about that and delete the data base in xampp to reinstall and see if i screwed up somewhere along the line.

thanx a million thisisedie, but i do not know how to install wordpress to begin with, is there someplace I should look for exact details. I have xampp install as a root on c drive.

Thanx a million Kevin, this was very helpful. I actually tried installing it like I did for Joomla, but that is not the way it works. I will try to do this at home tonight.
