EDIT: problem solved!!

What email address does the user use? Is he actually subscribed to your blog? Check in the subscriptions tab – that is how I found out it was spam: the email address wasn’t even subcribed to my blog. Does he use a website? Does the website exist, or is it some porn or medication website?

If it is a valid user, I cannot help you, sorry.

It’s elaborate spam — look again at the email address etc.
You can savely ignore it if it’s the same problem that we had.

Permalinks is on “default”, and I guess it’s not an apache server then.

How do I change that back in ftp?

The only thing I changed was that it should also count the visits of logged in users. That was, again, 8 hours ago, the blog worked for 7 hours afterwards.

Just tried to reinstall 2.8.3 again. No change.

Guys, there is a main widget missing when properly upgrading WP to the newest version, and this bug has existed for quite a while now.

I mean, I did a clean reinstall, deleting all plugins, deleting all fancy stuff, getting rid of all themes. You can’t be more carefull when upgrading.

Is this issue somehow being adressed?

Come on guys, is there no input for this problem? Showing categories is one of the key points of a blog … this is just very annoying, especially since it occured *after* updating to the newest version doing everything via standard protocol et cetera .

In my header.php:

<link rel="icon" href="https://www.revelation-of-silence.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-ico" />

And the favicon alone works, so the link adress is correct.

same problem here. 2.8.2

Same problem here. Update from 2.3 -> 2.8.2, category widget gone.

Tried:
* reinstall 2.8.2
* deactive all plugins + reactivate
* switch to standard theme and back
* et cetera

Help please ??

Arg this is weird! I just reinstalled 2.8.2 (doing every step again properly, deleting old files first et cetera)

Still no category widget.

Meh, doesn’t work. The problem existed before enabling the plugin “my category order”, I actually tried this out in the hopes it’d fix the problem.

I really didn’t do anything except for updating to 2.8.2 and dragging the category widget out of the sidebar.

Help please ??

Hm – perhaps this is the right thread?

I have problems with widgets disappearing as well – but not only from the sidebar (2.8.2), but also from the main source where you can drag them out.

Happened to my “category” widget. It is nowhere to be seen anymore since I dropped it once from the sidebar … so … how do I get it “back”?
