  • This sounds like a pretty crazy epic — I came across here after googling for some related stuff, and indeed, this is really annoying.

Doesn’t make sense to me line breaks get stripped — if I didn’t want so many line breaks, I’d press the Backspace key! And yes, a couple or even three line breaks helps a lot when presenting certain kinds of content in sections.

I’m wondering about this too. I’d like to use multiple line breaks as well, and not being able to do it as described here is problematic. Any advice graciously appreciated, thanxies!

What a cute name and nice site design, whooami — thank you for the pointers. I’ve been looking at larger hosts, perhaps it’s a numbers game, I’ve been rationalizing to myself “Well maybe I pay a few extra bucks a month and get much more disk storage and bandwidth”.

I was earlier getting help from Justin from https://www.webbleyou.com — I don’t personally know anyone else who uses it, but he is super-nice and really informative, and a similar sort of pricing scheme as A Small Orange, which I will now look into deeper.

I may want to store a lot of multimedia files, so disk space is something important to keep in mind. Thank you very much, I don’t think I would have known to check out A Small Orange if you hadn’t mentioned them. Will dig deeper.

Thanx for the info, I was just wondering about this — they’re offering what looks like a pretty good deal, but not having nice permalinks taints it.

Thanks, I wouldn’t have found this otherwise!

Aha! Thanks — wow, this is really a paradigm shift for me. A lot of things I’m going to be getting used to over time, I hope.

Thankee, I did see those pages and I should elaborate on my confusion by saying why that hasn’t worked for me so far. My current blog has an RSS, but only for the most recent entries — there doesn’t seem to be a way for me to get archives of previous months like I can with XML. I was looking for a generic XML importer in WordPress and couldn’t find one. ??

Also, the following weird things happen, I’ll try to describe them as best as I can:

-a lot of characters, including punctuation like apostrophes, get turned into things like “'” and I have no idea why
-looking at the imported monthly test archive I did on WordPress, if I load the main https://www.torley.com/blog/ page all the formatting is there, but going to https://www.torley.com/blog/?m=200506 shows it as plaintext and stripped
-indentations have vertical lines to the left of them — now, is this something to do with the chosen template?

I know I must be overlooking something here. What else should I be going for? Thanks a lot for helping me increase my understanding. If I can get this all smoothed out I will go YAYZERAMA! ??
