I edited the functions.php file with some help from someone so that it would replace the header logo for certain categories.

They are:

/index.php/category/chum
/index.php/category/shortcut
/index.php/category/energy-links

I only wanted to change it on certain ones so that they acted like little blogs seperate from the main content.

should I edit the css of the plugin itself? like should I open the file that came with the plugin download and edit the css so that I add the title I want in there?

I usually dont leave those things out. my theme is one I made by combining elements from many themes, but its mainly twentythirteen. The plug in is Collapsible widget area

So instead of having my background colour and border applying to .widget, I should make it apply to the specific Id of the widget. When I use inspect element on the side bar widgets, Im unsure what the id of the particular widgets are?

i actually found a link to solve my own problem, now to just get it to align to the right.

Thanks for youre help, I didnt realize it was that easy. In regards to the styling, how exactly should I set up the hover funtionality with css so that the text only appears on hover, and not on top of the image?

That did the trick kind of. I added text align: center to move the text that was hidden, so fixed the issue that way. thanks for all the help!

I was able to remove the unwanted text, but I still cant seem to get the text to move to the right so that it isnt behind the widget.

and Ill look at making a child theme, I had a brief look before but decided to play with the theme files, not thinking about upgrades.

Do you have any suggestion as to how I would have it so that on the homepage, It displays excerpts until clicking on the title to view the entire post?

Category Archives: (CATEGORY NAME HERE)

how do I remove the “Category Archives:” part of the display so that it only says the category name?

yes that did solve the 404 issue actually, thank you! was wondering now, if you go and have a look, youll see that when you choose an option it now give the type of category that the posts are, however my widget on the left overlaps the category name.

how should I go about fixing this?
