In reply to: Sub-domain staging site affecting live siteI did that a few times but it kept wanting me to re-install the site from scratch. I’ve put it back to wp_ now and I’m back where I was. What do you think I did wrong?

In reply to: Sub-domain staging site affecting live siteOk. Thanks. Just anything else? Or something that follows a pattern of some kind (sorry – I’ve made big mistakes in the past!)

In reply to: Sub-domain staging site affecting live siteAh – I think you’re on to something. I used the same database (thought I had to) but don’t know how to use a different table prefix

In reply to: Sub-domain staging site affecting live siteI meant ‘much’ appreciated! Sorry
Hi Alan. An extraordinary thing happened overnight. At midnight I closed down with no buttons showing having spent another fruitless hour scratching my head and going through all the options I could think of. At 9.15 this morning I suddenly realised they had reappeared. They sort of crept up on me and surprised me while I was doing something else. I wonder whether some cache finally cleared itself although I had done this so many times I can’t really think why. Anyway I’m holding my breath – it seems stable at the moment. For reference, here’s the site (temp url while I build it) https://www.tonybiggin.com/word
Thanks again – I love the buttons!Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: [raindrops] Sub menus not working on mobiles – Raindrops themeHi Nobito –
Apologies but I thought I’d replied to you – in fact I’d replied to the notification email which I also received so I think you would not have got it. My website is https://www.tonybiggin.com/word (a temporary setup while I build the site). For the moment I have found a workaround the menu issue by not using sub- menus though I think you may have done something to the site anyway as the responsiveness seems better.
I have another problem now with the typography menu – do I have to start a new thread?

In reply to: Italics within widgets and sidebarsOf course! Why didn’t i think of that! Actually what I hadn’t realised is that you could put the html thingies around ordinary text – I’ve been trying to find my widget texts in the editor but couldn’t find i . Huge thanks. That’s made my day!

In reply to: [raindrops] Randomised headers don't work in Raindrops themeNow resolved.

In reply to: [raindrops] Randomised headers don't work in Raindrops themeSorted – it was a plugin issue (WP Display Header) which I hadn’t realised I’d installed and which must have been in conflict with the theme. Silly me!

In reply to: Is WordPress supposed to be intuitive?Thank you – that’s very helpful. I have already bought a couple of books but one is really just about getting the package installed and producing a couple of simple pages while the other (apparently for dummies!) seems to assume a Phd in computer code. I’ll look at the resources you mention but I’m afraid I’m losing the will to live at the moment!

In reply to: Completely BlankAha – got it back again! I found the folder on my database on my host’s site and managed to find the code which I’d input. I deleted it and all is well. Shan’t be changing code again in a hurry!
Thanks for your help.
