Hello again,
an update.
When I published a couple of new posts on my blog recently, I did not get any notification from S2.
I think there was an update of S2 afterwards (or possibly before that) which I installed.
Today I posted some new material , and received not one but two notifications at once, one coming from the admin e-mail (undesirably) and the other – from the blog e-mail (as it should be). Moreover, the correct one came as an HTML excerpt and the admin one came as a plain text excerpt (I had originally set them to come as plain text excerpts, and did not mess with the setting afterwards).
So, more surprises but at least my subscribers are getting also the proper sender in their notifications. Maybe somehow the admin e-mail will disappear again:)
I might try the suggested method but as the problem only appears with actual per-post notifications (and not test mails sent to myself) it would take many posts to identify the specific combination of active/inactive plugins possibly causing the problem.
(Now that I think of it, I don’t know how confirmation emails appear.(
I’m using WordPress 3.2.1 (not too excited about updating to the latest version after all the compatibility woes) and the following plugins:
-AddThis
-Advertising Manager
-Akismet
-Statcounter
-PlusOneButton
-Thumbnail for Excerpts
-WPtouch
in addition to Subscribe2 (version 7.1).In the Subscribe2 settings menu, I also have four options of setting who the notification mail comes from (similarly to bws-online).
Yes, of course. Double-checked now – and got the same result with a new post today.
Hello,
I created a new user and posted a new update on my blog today – and got the same sender’s address in the notification mail which was not supposed to be public. Only the recipient’s mail was changed to the new user’s mail address, but that does not help much.
Thanks. I only now realised your suggestion to set up a new user with admin rights.
This looks good so far, but I’ll see how it goes when a post is published.
Thanks again, that’s fast help.
Thanks,
I double-checked the “Send email from” value, making sure it was from the title of my website, and not from a specific user or post author. However, I just posted a new post, and got my own name announced in the notification e-mail again.
I then tried sending a message to the only registered user (myself) using the Send Message function, and got the correct “From” address in the mail.
Then I decided to set the “Send email from” value to “post author”, and guess what, I got the following error message “Message failed! Check your settings and check with your hosting provider”.As only my master e-mail address was involved in the erroneous messages, and the master address is only my identification with the hosting provider (not used anywhere else and cannot receive mail), I realise it does have to do with my hosting settings.
Just got off the phone with the hosting provider who suggested that Subscribe2 found the system e-mail address somewhere in my WP installation files and is using it for its e-mail function.
Any idea where the plugin might have found it?

In reply to: Subscribe2 not working, now commenting as wellThanks for the excellent suggestion. Turned out it was the Simple Currency Exchange plugin which had become incompatible with the latest version of WP. Deleting it fixed the commenting issue.
I’ve also now reinstalled Subscribe2 and it seems to be working all-right too.
Thanks again.

In reply to: [Plugin: Subscribe2]Hi again,
after updating the plugin, I had not yet activated on my site it but noticed today that it’s not only the subscription feature but also commenting on posts that is not working! I tried Firefox and Opera, and comments could not be added on either, just resulting in a “loading” wheel symbol briefly.
I then deleted the plugin altogether, but the problem with adding comments remains. I am not competent to identify if it arises from the Subscribe2 plugin, or if another one is causing it, but maybe you would have an idea, and possibly even a solution?
Thanks.

In reply to: [Plugin: Subscribe2]Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion but I’m afraid I can’t delete it which also means no possibility to re-install.I get the following message when I try to delete the plugin:
“Fatal error: Call to a member function get_user_meta() on a non-object in /……………../wp-content/plugins/subscribe2/uninstall.php on line 18”.
