Ok, I got akismet to work by hard wiring the api code #, but I still have lines through everything. Can anyone tell me why? Or how to fix it?

In simply trying to activate akismet, now I have lines through everything in my admin. Whats up with that? I deactivated akismet the lines are still all over. Did it mess up my admin? I finally got a good clean install and now this?
Please advise

One more question. What version would you recommend? Is the newest version not quite ready, to many bugs still?

Thank you for responding. Your right, in trying to make my post as short as I could i didn’t put in all the research stats that i gathered. Since this is a new install I don’t have anything that needs to be transfered or saved. So it would probly be much easier to just try for a clean install than to track down and fix all the problems. I will try the install for free folks. I have no doubt that if they would do it, they could get it right, my skills are just novice at best. Again, thank you and have a great holiday.

After reading all through past posts on this problem I went back and studied the directories and files layout. I am not a great web wizzard but everything looks ok to me with that part. Since it seems to help to give the addy to the site, here it is, https://me2you.freehostplace.com/WP/

I did make sure that they are there in file manager content/themes. all seems ok, except they just aren’t there in presentation. widgets are there and working good.

New question.
I got threw the install of 2.3.0 alright. I am seeing one problem that I could use some advice on. When I go into the presentation tab, there are no themes at all. Not the one I installed or even the 2 standard themes that came with it. Yet when I go to the site it shows the one default theme. What can I do to get the themes to show up in presentation so I can choose one?

um, no haven’t done that yet. I just signed up for the free space on wordpress. I guess my frustration is because I am fairly seasoned at installing software and such. This setup must have a whole new approach. Your help is greatly appreciated.
